Hi JoJo! For the intuition game for the accountability exercise for this week (May 19-25), I chose the intuition game where we pick an animal fro the ATH who calls out to us. Your kitty, Seamus, called out to me. Perhaps it’s because Seamus is an orange kitty and I have red hair. It could also be because I’ve had orange kitties before and have one now who is considered an orange shade (he’s a creamy yellowish color).
Seamus was very welcoming towards chatting with me. I told him he’s very handsome. He said, “Thank you. I know.” He was a bit flirtatious towards me. He said that if he was a male human he’d ask me out. He asked me to rub his chin and neck and behind his ears. He said, “Oh, yeah. That feels good. That’s the spot.” He purred, too. He asked me what I’d like to know or what I’d like to talk about. I asked him what his favorite thing to do is. He said watch the birds while they sing and listen to them, lie on his human and get attention, get treats and eat meals, and lie in the sun. I asked him if he has a special spot he likes to lie in while lying in the sun. He said, “Yes,” and I picked up on an area with light colored carpet (like in a living room) in front of a sliding door that goes from floor to ceiling and lets in a lot of sun light that leads to the outside. I also asked Seamus what his favorite treats are. I picked up on a package and that they’re Temptations treats. I asked him who Cinders is. He said Cinders is his friend and buddy and that he thinks of Cinders as a brother/sister. He said Cinders gets very curious about things sometimes but that Cinders also gets a bit scared sometimes. I think Seamus said, “She’s (Cinders) is a bit of a scaredy cat,” so I guess Cinders is a girl. I wasn’t sure until now. Seamus told me about his favorite toy. He said it’s red and that he likes to carrying it around in his mouth and meow and that he likes to fling it around, too. He said it’s not a plastic ball, but that it’s a toy that’s an animal of some sort made out of fabric and has stitching. He has a real sense of humor! I love it! He said, “It’s been lovely chatting with you, but if you don’t mind I’m going to excuse myself. There’s a nap calling my name and I’m going to go take it.”

Hi Martha – I found your chat with Seamus on your board. I did not realize he was such a flirt – that’s so funny, and funny also because I always tell him he’s not old enough to date, maybe in 30 years 🙂 He does love his chin scratched, and I think you hit on so many of his favorite things to do! I wonder if he’d admit to sometimes doing more than listening to those birds…he has been followed home by angry parents once or twice – BUT, I must say that he has not done that in a long time (thank goodness) and perhaps he is more content now to sit and watch them, with only an occasional half-hearted attempt at a chase when they actually land near the porch! He does lie in front of the sliding doors (you described that area well – the flooring is a bit different than described though.) frequently – and especially when the sun is coming through. He seeks the sun even when it’s 90 degrees in the shade – I try to get him to come in from the front porch on these very hot days, to take a break from the heat – it’s amazing how long he can stay in the heat, he loves it. Treats – yes! usually they are Temptations, and he definitely enjoys them (thank goodness, as sometimes I need them for a bribe!) Cinders is definitely his sister, and she is indeed very curious, and yes, a bit of a scaredy cat 🙂 Hmmm – I have to think of which toy he is referring to – I’d say you’re correct, it’s not a ball & is an animal, but he has a lot, and I’m at a loss as to which one he is sharing with you. Yeah, he definitely has a sense of humor & isn’t lacking in self-confidence!! Thanks so much for sharing your discussion with my “Red Boy” 🙂

      Hi JoJo,
I’m so sorry for the late response!
How funny you tell Seamus he’s not allowed to date yet! That’s so cute! I don’t know if he’s a flirt with others, but he was with me! He’s a sweetie!

As for doing more than having just listened to the birds, I don’t know if he’d admit to it or not, but if angry parents followed him home, he must have done something that ruffle their feathers! LOL! Pun intended! It’s good though he hasn’t been followed home lately by angry parents. Maybe he’s realized it’s best to not disturb the birds.

He must be a warmth lover if he lies in the sun at those temperatures! Sometimes heat just feels soooooo good!

That’s awesome I picked up correctly on the Temptations treats, about him lying in the sun, and part of that area! I love it when I get it right!

Love to Seamus and his darling sister, Cinders!

      Hi JoJo,
I had a brief chat with Seamus tonight. It went like this:
I introduced myself and asked if he had time to chat. I had an image of him sitting down to look straight up at me and curling his tail around to rest at his front feet. He said sure. No-one has talked to me in a long time.
I asked Seamus to tell me a little about himself. I got an image of him parading around tail head high, very show off style. I asked if he was a bit of a lad about town. He said Oh yeah, all the girls are impressed with me. I got the idea he was proud of his shiny coat.
I asked where was his favourite place to rest. I got an image of him lying on one of those cat tower things in front of a window with the sun streaming in.
There was a little bit more that I can’t remember now but then my mind started to wander so I thanked Seamus for the chat and explained that I was losing concentration so needed to go. He had a bit of a smile at that.
Lovely boy. I got the impression he was not short on ego.
      Thanks for sharing him.
      Jann

We are glad you are interested in practicing talking together with an animal!

To get started, greet the animal and ask if they have time to talk with you. Remember that animals also lead busy lives even though we may not see all that they do. If they aren’t available, check back later.

Introduce yourself and explain why you are reaching out to them: that you are a member of the Animal Talk Coaching & Mastery Club and learning to better communicate with animals and would appreciate their help. You can ask them any questions you want. Typically they do provide a response. Please share your impressions of their personality, energy, how they feel and any insights they may share with you. By sharing what you get, the animal’s person can provide you with feedback and others can jump in too.

Use the Forum SEARCH field (located at the top of the right column above the picture of the Featured Animal Teacher) to find more discussions involving this animal (or other animals with the same name).

Some conversations have been lively, and we’ve learned some amazing insights, and laughed at jokes. Remember that this is a safe place to practice. This is about practice and learning, it is not about getting it perfect. The animals have much to teach us, to share with us and we with them.
