We are glad you are interested in practicing talking together with an animal!

To get started, greet the animal and ask if they have time to talk with you. Remember that animals also lead busy lives even though we may not see all that they do. If they aren’t available, check back later.

Introduce yourself and explain why you are reaching out to them: that you are a member of the Animal Talk Coaching & Mastery Club and learning to better communicate with animals and would appreciate their help. You can ask them any questions you want. Typically they do provide a response. Please share your impressions of their personality, energy, how they feel and any insights they may share with you. By sharing what you get, the animal’s person can provide you with feedback and others can jump in too.

Use the Forum SEARCH field (located at the top of the right column above the picture of the Featured Animal Teacher) to find more discussions involving this animal (or other animals with the same name).

Some conversations have been lively, and we’ve learned some amazing insights, and laughed at jokes. Remember that this is a safe place to practice. This is about practice and learning, it is not about getting it perfect. The animals have much to teach us, to share with us and we with them.

      Hello @claire-drouault,
I followed the instruction to scan through the ATH list when Buffy cheerfully came to say hi. Then all your animals were sort of interested in chatting with me, but I asked for one animal to talk to me first, as I have time for one animal today, when Buffy volunteered.

Buffy feels like a very happy and cheerful and curious energy when he was alive. I sense that he might have brought cheerful energy to the household. Other animals are sending me a bit of a sad energy at the moment for reasons unknown to me.

He showed me digging and a red ball. He is trying to talk to you. He has something important to say, it seems. Have you tried to connect with him recently?

      Thanks,
      Chigusa

        Hello @claire-drouault,
I wanted to write to you to let you know I got your response. Thanks! For some reasons Barbara G. got it instead of me but she forwarded to me. Sounds like Buffy left a hole in your heart. I hope you talk with her, I feel that she might be able to help you heal.

        Thanks,
        Chigusa

        Hello @claire-drouault again,
I was translating a blog that I wrote a while back today. I had forgotten about it and when I remembered, I thought of you. I am wondering if this meditation might help you let go of Buffy enough to make you feel ready to communicate with her again. https://healing-communications.com/meditation-to-let-go/ Just a thought.

        Thanks,
        Chigusa

Thank you for the meditation, Chigusa. I saved it on my desktop and will give it a serious try. It will undoubtedly take a lot of repetitions but it’s a great starting place!

      Hi Claire,
Thank you for sharing Buffy with us.
I’m connecting with Buffy, who is listed as being in spirit, as I write this. Almost right away I sensed that he loved to be in nature. I heard the word, “Park!” I heard a human saying, “Wanna go to the park!?” He showed me an image of him very excited after hearing that. He showed me an image of him sitting in the front seat of a vehicle. I’m also getting an image of him wearing a yellow rain jacket/poncho.
He said he loved to jump up onto logs and jump over them. He said he loved the moment when the picture was taken and him being on the log.
He said he was very happy. I also got the impression he was very polite. He said he was your companion, confidant, sidekick, and spent a lot of time around you. He loved it when you’d throw the ball for him to fetch. He loved running after the ball. He said he loved to smell flowers and he liked to lie in a field of flowers. He said there was a specific one you two would go to. I’m also getting you and he went to a cemetery.
He said he enjoyed canned food and loved treats. He said he got small ones and loved the small pepperoni flavored ones, cheese flavored ones, and the ones like pigs in a blanket (Snausages?)
He said he loved bed time and being on the bed. He showed me the image of flowered sheets and said they were very soft. He also said you like to garden and he showed me an image of being in the dirt near you while you gardened. He also said, “TV,” and I got the impression there’s a man who likes to watch TV.
He went off somewhere and we welcome talking to each other again. He’s truly a sweet and wonderful soul. He just sent me an image of a British seeming man wearing a British cap and a pipe and I got the thought, “reading a newspaper/book.”

Hi Martha! I love it that you contacted Buffy! She was a girl but she was fixed so sexual orientation was not a defining characteristic and I too often called her “he,” especially on rare times when she acted full of self. She was mostly as you saw her, considerate, sweet, happy and devoted. We were inseparable. I thought of her as my “bright shadow.”

There was a house that backed onto our favorite park where I kept promising her we would live soon. We sometimes sat in the park and dreamed of that day. Sadly she died 6 months before I was finally able to move there. I also moved our memory garden with her engraved stone and many others commemorating years of lost cats, dogs and birds, many of whom she knew–probably the cemetery she remembers. And we did love to garden.

I don’t remember feeding her “snausage” treats although if I did they were clearly more memorable to her than to me! She also got “last bite” of everything I ate.

She never fetched or played with toys. As rescue from a breeding farm her childhood must have been sadly deprived. And much as I love the idea of her wearing yellow rainwear it didn’t happen on my watch. But then she was almost three when she came to live with me. You really connected with Buffy’s true essence. The park and cemetery were right on and so was her beautiful personality.

      Hi Claire,
Thanks for the feedback. It’s so sad that she had been on a breeding farm before she was rescued. Thankfully with you she had a wonderful life 🙂

      Hi Claire,
I played the “Quick Impressions of Animals on the Animal Teacher Handout” intuitive game
      I felt drawn to Buffy.
From my impression I want to share what I’ve got.
I could sense her sweetness, full of love, curiosity, that she is connected to her parents.
She likes to walk in nature, to sniff plants and animal’s tracks.
She loves that all the attention is on her. She is in the center 🙂
She received lots of love in her life and she brings a lot of joy to her parents.
She was friendly with other dogs and cats.

I really love her picture and presence. She is (was) amazing!
I’m curious to know what I got right …

Thank you and Buffy for the opportunity to play and practice with her.
      Yaarit
