We are glad you are interested in practicing talking together with an animal!

To get started, greet the animal and ask if they have time to talk with you. Remember that animals also lead busy lives even though we may not see all that they do. If they aren’t available, check back later.

Introduce yourself and explain why you are reaching out to them: that you are a member of the Animal Talk Coaching & Mastery Club and learning to better communicate with animals and would appreciate their help. You can ask them any questions you want. Typically they do provide a response. Please share your impressions of their personality, energy, how they feel and any insights they may share with you. By sharing what you get, the animal’s person can provide you with feedback and others can jump in too.

Use the Forum SEARCH field (located at the top of the right column below the picture of the Featured Animal Teacher) to find more discussions involving this animal (or other animals with the same name).

Some conversations have been lively, and we’ve learned some amazing insights, and laughed at jokes. Remember that this is a safe place to practice. This is about practice and learning, it is not about getting it perfect. The animals have much to teach us, to share with us and we with them.

I just listened to the 10/9 call recording again, and am concerned about my Katie. Val says she needs healing because her nervous system is out of balance due to traumatic old experiences, saying she was very afraid due to something when she was a puppy (she’s nearly 13 now). I would really appreciate it if members could try to communicate with her and try to see what happened and help her make sense/peace with it. She is extremely clingy and seems nervous a lot of the time, and would love for her to live with more of a sense of calm and confidence. Thanks!

      Hi David,
I felt drawn to connect with beautiful Katie at the end of the FAT. I was pulled to have a conference with Katie, Frankie and Buddy. This is what happened:
Barb: Hi Katie, is this an ok time to connect with you and the rest of the pack? (Frankie and Buddy)
Katie: We don’t get a long. We all compete for David’s attention. We all want to be his number one companion but I am truly number one. I was here first.
Barb: Yes! You are Katie. There is something special about having and allowing emotional harmony in your home though. I want to send you a picture of how that might feel.
      Katie: Hmmmmmm…..we don’t have that.
Buddy: Nobody likes me. I have love to share.
Frankie: She is the ice queen and rules the roost and it makes me feel angry sometimes. I share it with others (like the groomer.)
Barb: Would you all be willing to feel together what emotional harmony could feel like?
Katie: I would still be number one?
Barb: Yes. That is part of your job in the pack. Let’s all picture David as taking on the emotional leader role. Let’s pretend that he is leading us to a place of emotional peace and quiet. I see you all now in a circle feeling your connections to the universal love where you can love yourselves and accept your differences…………………….
      That feels better.
Katie: This is a start. It is very nice to feel peace for all of us.
Buddy: Maybe we can do this again. I want to play some more too.
Frankie: I felt we shared a little bit of love without fear and that was good.
Barb: Good! May you all strive for this feeling in your home.

      Hi Barb,
Thanks so much for reaching out to the fur crew! I’m sorry to learn that Katie knows they don’t get along. I know she’s been mean sometimes to Frankie and growls occasionally with Buddy if he gets too close. There is some disharmony that I’ve been looking to resolve.
Does Buddy really think no one likes him? I mentioned that Katie could do without him, but Frankie likes to play with him. Buddy does share his love with me and tries to rub against the dogs.
It’s nice to know why Frankie acts a bit aggressive sometimes–I thought it was just because she doesn’t like her hair tugged or fingernails messed with. She really needs to know she cannot try to bite (nip) for whatever reason.
As far as being an emotional leader, I do try to share my attention but do give Katie more. I try to foster a harmonious home, but I’m not always successful in ensuring peace. Do you have ideas on how I can improve the situation?
Thanks again for communicating with all 3 of the critters!
      David

      Hi David,
I tried to connect with Katie again. I’m really not sure if I managed so please hold it lightly.
      Here’s what happened.
I was struggling to be still and could feel my energy all over the place. I was about to give up when I think Katie said: Don’t give up. She showed me a picture of her feeling happy at home just doing general doggy stuff in the house. So I persevered.
I asked her about lack of confidence – I shared that I struggled with that too.
I started to feel an achey pain around my heart area. So together we just acknowledge that there was pain – like an unhealed hole. We breathed together, we gave it space. We both had a few long sighs. She said: David loves me. If I stay close to him, I can focus on that rather than on my pain.
So we sat some more shining golden light on our heart areas. We shared some love energy and that felt good. I suggested that there was love energy everywhere in the universe and she could be confident of that. We sat some more in the love energy. I showed her that the others in the household also had love energy and that Katie could share that with them. They could feel good together. She said – yes that did feel good. She was hesitant though – it was all new for her.
She said but what if bad things happen? I asked if she felt safe inside the house.
She said: Yes – but humans outside the house can be unpredictable. They can just grab you. You don’t know what they might do next. I can’t always see where they are coming from and what they’re going to do.
So I said yes, that’s true. And I said that this is true for all of us. But aren’t things ok for you most of the time? When you’re at home with David is there any reason to think bad things might happen?
      She said: I guess not.
I said: humans really struggle with this too. Life involves risk. We can avoid it or we can live. You can live strong knowing David’s got your back.
I felt like she needed to practice being confident while being alone. We spent some more time shining light and sunshine on our heart areas.
Then it was time to go and I said: it’s been so nice hanging out with you Katie. and she said: its been nice hanging out with you Rosemary. (So when she said my name, it made me think this had been real because she said it in a way that wasn’t my way of saying it).
      Thank you Katie,
      Thank you Rosemay.

David I hope it makes sense. My feeling is she needs some time and space to acknowledge there is healing needed, that it’s possible, and golden/sunshine light to the heart area will help her heal gradually.

      Hi Rosemary,
Thanks for connecting with Katie again. I struggle to be still too and don’t have confidence in my ability and that’s my difficulty with making connections.
I’m so sorry to hear that Katie still has pain and an unhealed hole in her heart. I’m glad I can be a distraction, but I wish I didn’t have to. Thank you for showing her love energy.
I know she’s not always trusting of people or even other dogs for that matter. Thanks for reinforcing that I’ve got her back.
Thanks for shining light and sunshine on your hearts. Maybe the group can do more about that.
I’m glad she gave you validation by saying your name uniquely.
Thanks again for helping my Katie.
      David
