We are glad you are interested in practicing talking together with an animal!
To get started, greet the animal and ask if they have time to talk with you. Remember that animals also lead busy lives even though we may not see all that they do. If they aren’t available, check back later.
Introduce yourself and explain why you are reaching out to them: that you are a member of the Animal Talk Coaching Club and learning to better communicate with animals and would appreciate their help. You can ask them any questions you want. Typically they do provide a response. Please share your impressions of their personality, energy, how they feel and any insights they may share with you. By sharing what you get, the animal’s person can provide you with feedback and others can jump in too.
Use the Forum SEARCH field (located at the top of the right column below the picture of the Featured Animal Teacher) to find more discussions involving this animal (or other animals with the same name).
Some conversations have been lively, and we’ve learned some amazing insights, and laughed at jokes. Remember that this is a safe place to practice. This is about practice and learning, it is not about getting it perfect. The animals have much to teach us, to share with us and we with them.

I found JoJo to be a sweet & curious cat. She is delicate in nature. She wanted to know why I wanted to talk to her because she was a FAT a long time ago. I explained how previous FAT’s are archived. I got the sense that JoJo was very affectionate. You’re soft in your demeanor. You’re delicate in movement. You’re a good climber. I see you climbing up a sisal pole. You like to be high and have climbing structures throughout the house so you can watch what goes on. You do like to cuddle on the couch but you’re not a fan of being held or picked up. You start to wiggle to get free. You’re quiet and don’t meow a lot. You like to rub against your Mom’s legs. When she comes home and is reading the mail, you will rub against her legs as she talks about the mail that came in that day. You like hearing her voice. When she is done reading the mail, she will put it away and then give you a proper hello. Whenever someone comes home you will always come out to greet them. You like to be in the same room, watching activities going on. You get along with your dog brother. You don’t snuggle together but you do care for one another. Sometimes you play and do sneak attacks when he comes around the corner but its all in good fun. When I asked if there was anything I could pass on to her Mom, she said she is very happy with her life. I don’t know if she already goes outside on leash but that was mentioned and maybe if she doesn’t do that she may be interested in going outside and exploring the backyard. JoJo is a cutie patutie and I enjoyed talking with her.

Terrianne, I’m so sorry, I had tried to reply to you a couple of weeks ago and was unaware that my reply didn’t go through. JoJo no longer lives with me – when my daughter moved out, she took him with her. Curious is definitely his middle name! He also has a very sweet side, although he hides it sometimes when he’s in a bitey, scratchy mood. He’s a big, strapping boy so not really soft, but he’s very affectionate and loves to melt in my daughter’s arms. When he still lived with me there was a dog and they mostly ignored each other, although JoJo would sometimes launch a sneak attack on her – playfully, of course! He loves the outside but was only allowed patio time under supervision; we tried a leash but it was not a success. Again, sorry that it took so long to get back to you – I thought that I already had…

Hi Darla. Thank you for your response. It seems like I did get a few things correct so it wasn’t a total loss. No worries about the late response, I think there was a glitch in the system. I have been talking with many practice pets to help improve my skills and anytime feedback comes in is appreciated! 😘

I’ve decided that since Jojo doesn’t live with me anymore – he moved out over a year ago already! – that I’m going to retire this thread. I don’t know what he’s currently up to so that makes it harder to respond to others who choose him for practicing their communication skills. Thanks for talking to him!
