We are glad you are interested in practicing talking together with an animal!
To get started, greet the animal and ask if they have time to talk with you. Remember that animals also lead busy lives even though we may not see all that they do. If they aren’t available, check back later.
Introduce yourself and explain why you are reaching out to them: that you are a member of the Animal Talk Coaching Club and learning to better communicate with animals and would appreciate their help. You can ask them any questions you want. Typically they do provide a response. Please share your impressions of their personality, energy, how they feel and any insights they may share with you. By sharing what you get, the animal’s person can provide you with feedback and others can jump in too.
Use the Forum SEARCH field (located at the top of the right column above the picture of the Featured Animal Teacher) to find more discussions involving this animal (or other animals with the same name).
Some conversations have been lively, and we’ve learned some amazing insights, and laughed at jokes. Remember that this is a safe place to practice. This is about practice and learning, it is not about getting it perfect. The animals have much to teach us, to share with us and we with them.

Hi Joy. I connected with Smokey and introduced myself. I asked if we could chat and he said, “Sure.” I’m currently experiencing a bit of anxiety about something involving my cell phone. Smokey told me to relax.
I get the sense that Smokey is generally a pretty calm and relaxed dog. Not long after first seeing his picture, I got the sense that he is very wise.
He showed me a vision of a green hill and “flowers” came to me and I guess the vision of flowers, too.
He said he enjoys the beach.
I asked him what his favorite things to do is. He said to go hiking and be in nature. He also said “to be treated like a Prince.”
He said he gets curious about things, such as things you do. He also said he likes to watch you eat in hopes he’ll get some of what you’re eating. He said he knows there are certain foods he cannot have and that he has to be patient when waiting.
I asked if there’s anything else he’d like to talk about. He said there’s all kinds of things he could talk about but that is enough for now he said. He also said his food dish or something is red.
I thanked him for talking with me and told him I look forward to talking with him again. He gave me a kiss on my nose and said he’s going to go take a nap or go for a walk.

Hi Joy,
I was drawn to Smokey the minute I saw his picture. He was willing to talk with me. I told him that I may need his help with communicating. He was excited to help. I thanked him and expressed how beautiful I thought he was. I asked him what his favorite activity and toy was to play with. I saw a blue ball and he expressed that he loved to run and especially jump in the air to catch balls. He thought he was a good jumper. I got the number 6 or 7 coming up, not sure what that was about. I asked if that was his age and did not get an answer. He liked car rides. Remembers a cat on his walks that would watch him, perhaps from a window or porch. He ate something from outside and got quite sick. Loves to sniff shoes and says that he gets a lot of information about the people that wear those shoes. Did not like to get his nails clipped. He said he had to go to eat. I expressed my gratitude for this meeting. Thanking him for helping me and wished him love and blessings. Thank-you Joy I look forward to any feedback regarding this connection. Kathy Ihde

omg Kathy thank you so much for talking to Smokey! Sorry it took me so long to respond! It has been 6 or 7 years since he has passed! Glad to hear he is busy playing and eating! Yes he would eat grass and vomit occasionally when he was with me. He had a sister miniature schnauzer, Sadie. For some reason that picture did not post. Will try again. They both passed at 16 years old. I have a Sheepdog named Snoopy now. I am hoping that Smokey and Sadie will reincarnate. Smokey loved chasing toys that were tossed. You did really well! Thank you so much! I really miss them!
Joy :o)
