We are glad you are interested in practicing talking together with an animal!
To get started, greet the animal and ask if they have time to talk with you. Remember that animals also lead busy lives even though we may not see all that they do. If they aren’t available, check back later.
Introduce yourself and explain why you are reaching out to them: that you are a member of the Animal Talk Coaching Club and learning to better communicate with animals and would appreciate their help. You can ask them any questions you want. Typically they do provide a response. Please share your impressions of their personality, energy, how they feel and any insights they may share with you. By sharing what you get, the animal’s person can provide you with feedback and others can jump in too.
Use the Forum SEARCH field (located at the top of the right column above the picture of the Featured Animal Teacher) to find more discussions involving this animal (or other animals with the same name).
Some conversations have been lively, and we’ve learned some amazing insights, and laughed at jokes. Remember that this is a safe place to practice. This is about practice and learning, it is not about getting it perfect. The animals have much to teach us, to share with us and we with them. Enjoy!

Hi Kathy, I felt drawn to J-Lo today.
My impression is that J-Lo is kind-hearted, playful, likes to frolic in the pasture, and loves sugar cubes!
S. Hi J-Lo, I’m Sharon, an AC with Val heart and Kathy. Can I talk with you?
J. Why, of course, you people rock! (LOL)
S. How are you?
J. I’m great.
S. That’s wonderful. What are some of your favorite things to do?
J. I like to eat, love, love, love those sugar cubes, and hay. I like to play. Love the little person that visits me.
S. Sounds like you like to have fun.
J. Yep, that’s my middle name! (LOL)
S. What else would you like to share with me?
J. The little person that rides me, I like that. People here are so nice to me. I’m just a happy camper!
S.That’s great J-Lo. Thanks so much for talking with me.
J. You’re welcome! -

Thank you Sharon for talking with J-Lo. She does love to play. In fact, she has her own toys, a big ball, a stuffed cow (which she drags around and dunks in her water) a chew toy and anything else she can put in her mouth. She does love her treats, they are actually sweet apple treats that are in the shape of a cube and she does love them very much. She is a mini donkey and doesn’t have anyone riding her, shes too little and I’m the only person she sees and maybe she thinks I’m the little person. I get down on her level to hug on her. She is a lover thats for sure. You definitely connected with her fun side. She plays in the pasture all day with her friend, Goldie the horse. We do love her very much. I’m glad to hear she is as happy as she seems to be. You did great. THANK YOU SO MUCH!

Aww, thank you so much for the feedback. I truly appreciate it. It’s so neat to connect to such a joyful soul. How neat to have a mini donkey. Kind of like having a big dog I guess? And, for you to get down to her level to love on her is awesome! Thanks again!

3/2/19: Hi Kathy. I had a short visit with J-LO and found her to be funny, a good listener, happy, full of laughter and dancing, and that she likes to eat apples, horse feed, and grass. She said to me “don’t forget to be receptive.”

Hello Kathy,
I tried to practice AC today by connecting with J-LO. After grounding and choosing the photograph I tried to go in with a soft focus and get an impression before starting with questions but J-LO got a little impatient with me I think. When I asked her if we could talk she said: Yes, I’m here. Waiting.
I asked if she was a horse or a donkey because I wasn’t sure from the photograph. The conversation went like this:
JLO: How can you not tell if I’m a horse or a donkey?
R: Well I’m trying so hard to get this right. It’ snot easy for me. ARe you a donkey?
JLO: Yes.
R: Are you a boy or a girl?
JLO: Well, why don’t you introduce yourself first?
R: Sorry – I’m Rosemary. I’m learning this.
JLO: I’ll try to help you but you need to learn to listen.
I got a huge sense of her patience and her sense of humour at that point and then she said
JLO: That’s why I can help you. That’s what you need. Humans are a bit slow.
R: How are you?
JLO: Happy.
Then she showed me a picture of her pushing her nose up against a halter or a something or butting her nose against people. She just likes doing it.
She likes a yellowish food – maybe oats or a meal mix?
She showed me a picture of a paddock – grass with some yellow dirt patches. She said she likes to watch who is (maybe cars) arriving at the house.
R: CAn you tell me about your human?
JLO: She’s nice. She’s beautiful. She makes sure I get what I need. Sometimes she can be a bit distracted and separate from me – not in a bad way. She can be dreamy.
R: What do you like to do?
JLO: I like to blow out through my nose.
R: CAn you tell me a bit more about that?
JLO: Its to get the dust – to connect with our earth. That’s what we do.
She also likes to sit in the shade/a shelter.
She felt my frustration with myself and my difficulties in communicating.
JLO: It’s hard to connect with closed hearts. You need to learn how to open and close your heart with ease. We can teach you that. Hang on to what we teach you. Be steady.
Then I told her I was getting tired and was going to go.
JLO: Blessings. and I felt huge donkey warmth.-

Angela, you were right on about J-Lo. She’s quite the character and does love her apples, apple treats and anything else she can get. She is the happiest little thing I’ve ever had the privilege of knowing. She loves to play and is into everything. THANK YOU for talking with her. Sorry this too so long to get feedback to you. I didn’t get the email. Great job.

How long have you been doing this? THIS WAS AMAZING! You nailed J-Lo’s personality perfectly. she’s a love with tons of personality. A very happy donkey. She loves to play and butts me all the time. She does eat a brownish mesh (beet pulp wet). And she is always snorting the ground, or sniffing my toes. Loves toes. She can be bossy and impatient. Doesn’t surprise me in the least the way she talked to you. She does that with me too. Plus she described me so exactly. WOW! She stays under her own shelter at night but goes into the pasture with my horse, Goldie during the day. The description of the pasture with brown spots was right on. You made it sound like you were new at this but you are very connected. A lot more so than I am and I’ve been at it for a couple of years now. I am so impressed. And you are great at the detail…Great Job! (don’t mind J-Lo….LOL)

Thank you for the encouragement – I am new to this. I keep thinking I’m making it up and struggle to concentrate for long. Then I get distracted because I tend to chat away to myself too! J-Lo is hilarious! I’m coming back for more!

Hi Kathy, at first I wasn’t sure if I was connecting to J Lo and I said to her, I’ll try later and she said to me, well you’re talking to me now. Has anyone else heard her with an English accent?
I asked her if you pony her when you ride so she can tag along. She said no but she would like to. I asked her if she leads well and she said that she does. I don’t know if that’s an option but she would like to someday. I told her that I do that with baby horses to get them used to the trails. She’s delightful and she likes to know what’s going on.
She said that she is an authority on many subjects.
I told her I look forward to communicating with her again.
