We are glad you are interested in practicing talking together with an animal!

To get started, greet the animal and ask if they have time to talk with you. Remember that animals also lead busy lives even though we may not see all that they do. If they aren’t available, check back later.

Introduce yourself and explain why you are reaching out to them: that you are a member of the Animal Talk Coaching Club and learning to better communicate with animals and would appreciate their help. You can ask them any questions you want. Typically they do provide a response. Please share your impressions of their personality, energy, how they feel and any insights they may share with you. By sharing what you get, the animal’s person can provide you with feedback and others can jump in too.

Use the Forum SEARCH field (located at the top of the right column below the picture of the Featured Animal Teacher) to find more discussions involving this animal (or other animals with the same name).

Some conversations have been lively, and we’ve learned some amazing insights, and laughed at jokes. Remember that this is a safe place to practice. This is about practice and learning, it is not about getting it perfect. The animals have much to teach us, to share with us and we with them.

Nov 5 18 communication practice: image of Rabbit/ hare, either she eats or hunts. she loves to hunt and pounce and would prefer to be outside more and eat more meat. sweet and then surprises with a sudden fierce (playful) love bite. felt a deeper husky meow? likes solitude. easy going. plush life, sometimes bored. loves to watch her (Martha?) dance; says she loves to dance. likes her old not fancy but soft couch and likes to sit in middle or top/side arms. doesn’t like to be rushed. right back tooth hurts sometimes? getting better, maybe more water. she says she likes being with/observing other animals outside, but sometimes metal stuff (outside) pokes her so she dodges that. she tells me to slow down and eat more strawberry vanilla ice cream shakes. hmm. she says it wasn’t always nice before martha and that she was ignored and there loud noises. glad to be in her pride now. **my other fun convo with her from jan 3rd will be posted asap.

Oh my! I’m so sorry for the delayed reply! I actually didn’t realize you had written.
Serenity is inside only. However, she doesn’t hunt rabbits. She does enjoy catching flies and other flying creatures in our apartment. I think perhaps she’d like for her, Hawkeye, and me to move somewhere with a better view.
I can see where she gets bored sometimes. I play with her and Hawkeye, but I feel like there are things that might provide her more entertainment. I’d like to provide them with more entertainment.
Serenity is very sweet, yes. She doesn’t do the sudden fierce playful love bites. That might have been a connection to a kitty in Spirit.
Serenity actually have a very sweet and soft meow. Serenity likes solitude, yes. Serenity is easy going, yes. She likes being pampered.
I have at times danced a little to music. I don’t do that often though. I used to figure skate which I enjoyed at times.
As for the couch, I had one that was pretty old. I got a new one in June though last year. I hope she likes the new one as much as the old one. On the old couch, she would get on the big back cushions. On the new couch she gets on the two parts for the feet or on the other part of the couch.
It’s true Serenity doesn’t like to be rushed.
I’m so sorry her tooth hurt. She got a teeth cleaning in December. I hope her tooth no longer hurts.
I love her suggestion about strawberry vanilla shakes!

I asked Serenity if she would like to be a wild kitty like a wild lynx. She says she is, that she admires wild cats, and that she is so very content with how things are.

I asked Serenity if she ever had any other owners/caretaker other than Martha and her cat mother. I hear yes a friend who had kittens and then let me go. Then I got “a stray kitty just chasin tail. at this point i feel silly and refocus 😉

Then i get another description of a caretaker in her past?: man in gray car doing auto work in jumpsuit with grease on hands sweet kinda fonzi like but lost his family and needed to be with himself health and car shop. “he found me shelter with new mom … I was loving and appreciative of him but really not content in terms of day to day needed to unfurl my wings a bit … Even if I am just hanging out watching tv or just chilling I feel free b/c she is busy but around and we can chat and have snacks and I have my kitty friend. Im the boss but she is quite intense and feisty to be around I tolerate it…love this fiesty one”

I asked Serenity about Past Lives: My Charlie was a bookeeper, very fair, and a bit intolerable with his precision…he took care of me…a bit dull..but he had what we needed and I felt fairly safe as I could as I could in the upstairs city apartment…Bronx 1937…I am often around artist and they are a quirky bunch but good people and life is interesting. His personality was dull. his work was a masterpiece but he never got anywhere in the human technology. he drank alot”

present time: Serenity says she hears music within … classical, classic rock ok. when completing conversation she mentioned roller skating in her dreams.

        Hi Angela!
I wasn’t aware of your January 3rd post until today.
I am not surprised that Serenity said she’s a wild cat because her ears and how she looks in general remind me of a wild cat.

I adopted Serenity when she was 6 and a half months old. I adopted her from a no kill rescue. She had been there with her brothers and sisters. I don’t know if her mother was there. I am not sure how long she had been at the rescue, nor am I sure how old she was when she arrived at the rescue. Her brothers and sisters had been adopted already when I met her and she was being like a mo to the younger cats who were there with her when I met her.

I’m not sure about the Fonzi like person you mentioned.

I’m happy she likes it here with me and likes our time together 🙂 I love our time together 🙂

Serenity is the boss, yes. She definitely knows what she wants when she wants it and lets me know. Were you saying that she says I’m intense and feisty?

As far as her past life in the Bronx, I hope she doesn’t think of me as dull like the guy. I don’t create artwork, but I’ve thought about it if I were to have the room to do that. As I was writing the previous sentence she came out from where she was. I wonder if she thinks artwork would be good for me and interesting/entertaining for her if I were to do it.

I play music in our apartment. I’ve played classical before, pop music, Christmas music, and more.

Roller skating in her dreams sounds interesting. I’m picturing her roller skating! I used to figure skate.

Hey Martha I just saw this! Thanks for the response. Interesting about how you use to figure skate and my message about roller skating. No, the intense and fiesty, was referring to another kitty she is around?

Well, there is another kitty in our household. His name is Hawkeye. Hawkeye can get rambunctious and play hard. Maybe that’s who and what she was talking about.

Hello Martha I connected with Serenity yesterday (4/18) morning. She said she is not as shy as I think she is. She just likes to manage her space and what she receives into it. This felt gentle. She says she is most serene at night, though sometimes disturbed by neighborhood noises. She says she loves gentle music and silence and loves when Martha meditates. When I asked about favorite foods, for some reason I heard the word “libations.” And got something about at rare times she gets some snacks from your social gatherings. I also got that she likes turkey, cheese bits, and scrambled eggs, hmmm. I saw a brown beige stuffed animal like toy that looks kind of like a horses mane on it. I got the image and message of secretive and lynx. She says she she others and accepts and loves others. She thinks Hawkeye is precious but sometimes bratty. “I just like to chill and not parent.” Sometimes she bops him on the head? sometimes headache? We shared Reiki. at the end I got an image of a basketball hoop, hmmm. … I also connected with Hawkeye but library about to close so i will post as soon as i am able. 🙂

Hello Angela! I am going to respond to this message the way I did with your other one.

Hello Martha I connected with Serenity yesterday (4/18) morning. She said she is not as shy as I think she is. This is good to know. She hasn’t had much experience with other people since I got her when she was about 6.5 months old. If someone comes to do something involving the apartment, she hides. That could be though because she’s picking up on my energy of not being comfortable with the people being here.

She just likes to manage her space and what she receives into it. This makes sense because sometimes she goes into the other room where she’s by herself.

        This felt gentle. She’s gentle!

She says she is most serene at night, though sometimes disturbed by neighborhood noises.
She’s quite often serene. Sometimes there are neighborhood noises that are disturbing- other people in our building, the guy who uses the leaf blower and walks right by our apartment, people next door, a dog who barks sometimes, etc.

She says she loves gentle music and silence and loves when Martha meditates. She likes gentle music and silence, yes. I think she likes hearing birds, too. I don’t meditate a lot. I was doing better about meditating for a bit. I need to do more meditating, especially if she likes it when I do!

When I asked about favorite foods, for some reason I heard the word “libations.” I’m not sure what this is about unless it’s just from the fact that I enjoy when I eat and she and Hawkeye do, too. They also enjoy when I give them chicken when I sit down to eat dinner.

And got something about at rare times she gets some snacks from your social gatherings. I don’t have social gatherings.

I also got that she likes turkey, cheese bits, and scrambled eggs, hmmm. I’ve given her turkey before but she wasn’t particularly interested in it. She does, however, love chicken! I haven’t given her cheese, nor have I given her scrambled eggs. However, she might be picking up on the burrito I had not long ago that had egg and cheese in it and how much I enjoyed it.

I saw a brown beige stuffed animal like toy that looks kind of like a horses mane on it.
I am not sure what this toy would be. There is a beige blanket in a box though that I keep out for them. it’s a very soft blanket. I don’t know if perhaps that’s what she’s talking about. In terms of the mane, she could be talking about a blue toy she likes to play with at times that has pieces that could maybe be interpreted as a short mane. i don’t think that’s what she was talking about though.

I got the image and message of secretive and lynx. To me she looks a little bit like a wild cat, like a lynx or something, because of the white on her and the fur at the tips of her ears and specks of white fur. I have mentioned to people before that she looks a little like a wild cat. The “secretive” part is interesting. Is she saying she’s a bit secretive in her being?
She says she she others and accepts and loves others. is she talking about other humans? If so, this gives me clarity as I’ve wondered about if I were to get involved with a guy how it would be for Serenity and Hawkeye. The whole time I’ve had them I’ve been single. I’ve also wondered about how it would be for Serenity and Hawkeye if my mom and/or sister were to come out here but stay with us rather than in a hotel. Would she like my mom/sister to come and stay with us? Would she like for her, Hawkeye, and me to have a guy?

She thinks Hawkeye is precious but sometimes bratty. Hawkeye is precious and sometimes is very rambunctious and bothers her. Sometimes he gets too much in her space, too.

“I just like to chill and not parent.” Haha! She likes to chill, yes. I wonder if the parenting part refers to when he gets too much in her space and when he gets rambunctious. It could also be referring to when he is not gentle and at her pace when I play with them.
Sometimes she bops him on the head? She has swatted at him before. That perhaps had head contact before.
sometimes headache? I hope she doesn’t have headaches. Did she say why she mentioned “sometimes headache”?

We shared Reiki. Thank you for sharing Reiki with her.

at the end I got an image of a basketball hoop, hmmm. … I also connected with Hawkeye but library about to close so i will post as soon as i am able. 🙂 I’m not sure what the image of the basketball hoop is about. I’ve heard people bounce basketballs nearby before. I wouldn’t be surprised if she heard that, too. Is that what she was talking about?

Thank you for connecting with Serenity. I’m sure she enjoyed it 🙂

      Hello Martha,
I just had a go at connecting with Serenity.
So first I got the impression that she has a very strong character. Is she older than Hawkeye? She seems more sensible and mature and keeps him in line when he does boyish dumb stuff.
I also got a strong feeling of night and stars.
This could be because it is nighttime with you (well I think it’s early morning) but I got the impression that at night she likes to sit and connect with the stars, and watch the night sky. I think she said she is quite nocturnal, but has adapted to being awake in the day too.
She also showed me a picture of her watching the daytime sky – birds outside the window. She likes to follow them. Her predator instinct is switched on by this.
I asked her about the washing. I think this is what she said: My mom gets in such a tizzy about it, how can she expect me not to? It’s my mum’s flapping around that affects my routine. It disturbs me. She needs to be more (and I’m struggling to find the right words here to get across the impression) definite about the washing happening outside our home, rather than bring all the caffuffle inside the home. Just get the washing in one place. Take it down. Do it. Bring it back when it’s done. Then put it away. Delineate the spaces – dirty washing inside in one place. Then take it all out. Clean it. Then bring it all back in. Stop extending the energy around it across our whole home. I think she showed you bringing the energy of the washing all around the home, like a huge cobweb or strings and it settling on the home, and influencing everything. It annoys her and gets in her way. She can’t settle because there are bits of this stringy energy which stop her being able to get on with her things.
So, Martha, I don’t know if this is made up or not – it might be so hold it lightly!
My biggest impressions were of her strong female personality, very clearly knowing what she likes and doesn’t. She can be timid or hold back a bit, but when it comes to Hawkeye, she’s in charge!
      Thanks Martha and Serenity!
      Lots of love,
      Rosemary

        Hi Rosemary,
Thank you so very much for connecting with my sweet baby girl! I am so sorry for the delayed reply.
Serenity is a little older than Hawkeye. Serenity is 7. Her birthday is in August. Hawkeye is 5. His birthday is in June.
Serenity is more sensible. Hawkeye is definitely not as mature. He gets rambunctious or hungry and will swat at Serenity and go up close to her face. Sometimes he gets too close and Serenity hisses at him.

I would not be surprised if Serenity sometimes looks at the night sky (what little there is available to see since there is a big building next door). I believe she would Love to see the night sky more and see stars! I am Hoping to find the right place in the right location for my kitties and me and for us to move to it. Being able to see the night sky and stars there sounds wonderful!

Sometimes she gets in the window and can see birds, yes. She enjoys being in the window at times, too. Another thing I would like in the new place is lots of birds.

About the cleaning and laundry – what you said about cobwebs makes a lot of sense ! Cobwebs expand in area and when I clean and do laundry I am in and out if the apartment and going from one area to another. The cobweb analogy is a great way to help me understand better from her-it’s like my energy gets all over. This also helped me realize with strengthened awareness that if I have anxiety and am going back and forth that she doesn’t like it.
I am going to try to make some changes that will Hopefully help her.

Thank you beyond words for connecting with Serenity and for letting me know what transpired. The part about the cobwebs and getting her insight on everything as well as knowing what it’s like from her view point are all really helpful! Thank you from the bottom of my heart, Rosemary. Love to you and Elsa!

Not sure if this is the right place to post. Nobody seemed to respond to my introduction post except Barb. Still don’t have any pictures in the Practice area after emailed and posting multiple times. Not sure that this is a very active forum.

I need help with my dog Cinch (really my husbands dog). Has not been himself for almost a month now.

I have been talking with animals for a while. But now that I am taking these courses, I don’t get as much information. I am working on it.

I would appreciate any information that anyone gets.

      Thanks and many blessings,
      Mary

      Hi Martha,

I have had a short chat with Serenity (I am a beginner). I did the connection without having read the previous messages in order to have a neutral approach. But when I read them I realised I was completely wrong sometimes (:

      Here is what I got:
      everything is fine for her
there is a weight on her chest
she wouldn’t know how to remove it
she doesn’t like her food too much
she told me that she « liked » going outside, but after I have read the messages I realized that she « would like » it very much: walking on the grass and feeling the vegetation carress her body, smelling the nature’s scents and enjoying it. Kind of something that would envelop all her body like for us a warm nicely scented bath.
she doesn’t particularly like to hunt
she showed me she was living with you
but she did’nt mention Hawkeye nor that she was playing with him.
she has a very strong soul and spirit blooming us with love, empathy, and such a lot of kindness

As a matter of fact if I have chosen Serenity it is because she looks so much than one of my beloved cats, Mic.

with lots of love to Serenity

      Hi Evelyne,
Thank you for connecting with my girl 🙂
I believe she has a weight on her chest in regards to the fact that I have been struggling emotionally and with being Spiritually present and because my energy isn’t good for them and because I get so stuck in my head thinking and worrying that I don’t give them as much attention as I would like from a clear mind and while being good energy and Spiritually present. I am trying to become my Highest and Best Self for her and Hawkeye and for everything to be to their Highest and Best Good.

I believe she likes her current food. Past food she didn’t like.

I believe she would Love going outside where there’s safety, grass, sunlight, flowers, birds, and Nature. I Hope to one day be able to afford a place for us to live that has these things.

She likes to play with flies and bees and such. She likes to eat the flies as well. She has not hunted birds and mice. Perhaps she would enjoy that if given the opportunity. When I first read your message about not hunting, I didn’t see her as a big time huntress. It would be interesting to see what she would do if she had the opportunity to hunt.

She doesn’t play much with Hawkeye. They live together, but they are not best friends who play a lot together and such.

She absolutely has a strong Soul and Spirit blooming us with Love, empathy, and a lot of kindness 🙂 She is a warm Soul as well. She is absolutely amazing. She is one of my best friends. She is one of my Soulmates. I Love her beyond infinitely and beyond eternity. My Love for her has no limits, what I do for her has no limits, and no words can accurately describe my Love for her.
You did quite well connecting with her. I believe she enjoyed connecting with you, too. It’s so sweet that she reminds you of your Mic.

You’re welcome to connect with Serenity anytime you and she want.

Love and Light to Mic from my Sweet Serenity and me.
      Martha
