We are glad you are interested in practicing talking together with an animal!
To get started, greet the animal and ask if they have time to talk with you. Remember that animals also lead busy lives even though we may not see all that they do. If they aren’t available, check back later.
Introduce yourself and explain why you are reaching out to them: that you are a member of the Animal Talk Coaching Club and learning to better communicate with animals and would appreciate their help. You can ask them any questions you want. Typically they do provide a response. Please share your impressions of their personality, energy, how they feel and any insights they may share with you. By sharing what you get, the animal’s person can provide you with feedback and others can jump in too.
Use the Forum SEARCH field (located at the top of the right column above the picture of the Featured Animal Teacher) to find more discussions involving this animal (or other animals with the same name).
Some conversations have been lively, and we’ve learned some amazing insights, and laughed at jokes. Remember that this is a safe place to practice. This is about practice and learning, it is not about getting it perfect. The animals have much to teach us, to share with us and we with them. Enjoy!

Hi Sharon,
I was going through the pictures of animal teachers and saw Penny’s. Thank you for offering Penny to be an animal teacher. Almost right away I got a sense that she was asking if she was going to be the one I was going to pick. It was something like, “Will it be me?,” or something of the sort.I greeted her. She already seemed to know my name and that I’m an animal communicator. (Well, in training).
I get a sense that she’s confident and dignified. Before I got these impressions, I got a sense that she acts royally and can also be a bit shy. I don’t get the shy sense about her now though.
She said she’s good and is having a good day. She also sent me a vision of her smelling the grass and ground. She’s walking me through smelling the grass and ground and locking onto a scent and following it. I asked her what it smells like. She said, “Another animal” and showed me a visual of a squirrel.
I asked Penny what her favorite thing is to do. She said to go for a walk and smell. She also showed me a visual of her lying stretched out in the sun and also lying on the couch. It’s a soft material and cushy and I’m getting it’s a tan color or some shade of brown.
I also picked up on the name “Penny Lou”.
I asked her what she eats. I showed her different kinds of food. It seems like she was interested in freeze dried raw food and raw food that is kept in the freezer, but I got the impression she eats canned food and maybe dry food but doesn’t like dry food much.
I got a sense she likes Totino Pizza Rolls, ice cream, pizza, and lots of other things people eat.
I also got a sense she is a bit of a jokester at times and also a good girl, too.
She doesn’t like to be ignored, and when she is ignored she does something special to get your attention.
I got that she’s five years old.
I asked Penny who makes up her household. She said, “Other animals,” you, a man, and kids. I asked if the kids are always there. She said, “No.”
I asked her if she likes to ride in the car. She said, “Car? Car?” and was moving her head in different directions looking for it. She just sent me an image of her tail wagging.
I told her I was asking if she liked that, not telling her that she was going to go in the car. I told her I was sorry if I got her excited and disappointed her. She said, “Eh. It’s okay.”Penny has a very forgiving soul. She loves to have fun and is down for anything fun almost any time-unless she needs to rest from earlier fun. She says she likes to rest.
She’s a great companion and side kick.
It’s 8:42 am PST and she just thought she heard someone coming home/inside. She also wanted to sleep/nap. She just sent me an image of greeting someone! She and I will be talking again 🙂 I told her to have a wonderful day. She said she will for sure 🙂 I feel that she’s a happy dog who is very loved and loves in return and receives a lot of warm energy from you and your family.

Hello Martha. Thank you so much for talking with Penny. You certainly got the essence of her personality down!!
Will it be me? Oh my, yes, she loves attention!!! She is my little “Diva”, and thinks she should get all the attention. She even growls at Cody from time to time if he gets in her way of getting attention from me.
So the royalty feeling is spot on too! She believes she is the queen here! You are right that she is not shy. If there is someone she can get attention from, she’s right on it!
She does like to check out any area where a different smell is. And, I did see a squirrel running through the yard the other day, so that’s probably what it was! Way to go!
She does frequently lay on the back of a tan couch, looking out the window. That probably is her favorite spot, when it’s cold outside. During warmer days, she climbs into a chair, and takes in the sun.
Her name is Penny, and I sometimes say Henny Penny Wenny! I do have another dog named Ivy Lou though. So maybe you picked her up in the conversation too.
She does eat dry food, and I don’t give them table food. I can imagine though that she would love to have the frozen food, and the human food. She seems to enjoy her food and treats, but, I believe she would eat anything put in front of her! LOL
She is a “good” girl, and certainly does things for attention. If she is in my lap, and I quit petting her for a moment, she takes her paw to my hand, so I remember she’s still there!
Yes, she turned 5 years old in January!
She doesn’t go on may car rides, but she doesn’t seem to mind it when she does go. Typically, the car ride is only to the vet. Sounds like she doesn’t mind going though!
I am the primary person in her life. Sometimes my son, his fiance’, and her daughter come to visit. Her daughter is 10 years old. So, they are not here very much – but those are probably the other humans she was talking about.
It’s wonderful to know she feels loved. Yes, she is a great companion and sidekick. And, most of her day is spent resting. One of the things my dogs seem to do best! LOL
Thank you again, so much, for connecting with Penny.
Blessings,
Sharon -

Hi Sharon,
Thanks for the feedback. I’m wondering if maybe she was telling me things she’d like to eat or try and if she was telling me she’d like to go for a car ride. In regards to the “Lou” part I picked up on, I don’t know if it was Ivy Lou jumping in the conversation or if she was mentioning Ivy Lou to me. Anyway, thanks for the feedback. Feedback is always helpful, and exciting when I get confirmations! I hope you all are enjoying your weekend! -
