How Cat Communication Prepared TuffyTiger To Go Outside Safely

cat communication

The day TuffyTiger wanted to go outside.

In my recent post about cat communication, you got to meet the darling tabby kitten TuffyTiger and learned the amazing story of how this tiny feral ball of feline fluff with gorgeous green eyes came to live with me.

Here’s what happened next!

After TuffyTiger took up residence with us, I kept her inside the first few days to make sure she felt comfortable and safe. I wanted her to bond deeply with her new family (me, my husband and our other cat Peach), and to accept and know where her new home was.

Because she had been a feral kitten and had never lived inside a human house before, I expected her to want to go outside. So we agreed that she would let me know when she felt ready to explore the great outdoors.

Fortunately, I lived in a neighborhood where it was pretty safe for cats to be outside. We were on a cul-de-sac, so there wasn’t much traffic. Dogs are on leashes here, and my neighbors are kitty friendly.

But to my surprise, she didn’t want to go out. Weeks passed and she was perfectly content to be a house kitten…

But then one day, she did.

How I Used Cat Communication to Prepare TuffyTiger For The Big Outdoors and the Dangers She Would Face

Tuffy went to the patio door and meowed, calling me. When she had my attention, she said, “I’m ready to go out now.”

The big day had arrived!

I proceeded to use my cat communication telepathic abilities (just like I teach my clients and students in The Heart School of Animal Communication® ) to tell her about all the dangers for outside cats and how to keep herself safe.

I replied, “My, what a big girl you are. Now we need to talk about the dangers of being outside, so you know how to keep yourself safe in this neighborhood. And we also need to talk about wearing collars because all loved kitties with good homes and people who care about them wear one. They are important, and they tell people that you belong somewhere. Finally, so I don’t worry myself sick about you, we need some ground rules. You must always agree to come when I call you no matter what. You must also agree not to go very far if you go outside of our yard. And I want you to promise to always be home by dusk because, after that, it’s not safe anymore for little kitty girls like you.”

She asked lots of great questions and concerns, and I was able to answer them all to her satisfaction.

Finally, I quizzed her to be sure she understood everything we’d discussed.  She passed her tests with flying colors.

Such a smart girl!

Next, we checked out her new collar. It was a lovely soft breakaway collar. It had her name tag on it and a little green bell that tinkled when she walked. She let me put it on her with no fuss, and she agreed to come back as requested.

I opened the door. It was a proud mama moment. I confess I felt a bit scared for her and what might happen, but I’d done all I could to educate her so she would make good decisions and choices, and understood the consequences of going outside and what could happen.

Ultimately, her happiness was super important and as she assured me, going outside was important to her.

Happily she strolled outside…

And later she came back, exactly as requested. What a relief!

But…

Something was missing….

Where was TuffyTiger’s collar?

The Case of the Missing Collar

“Tuffy, what happened to your collar?”

“It felt tight. I didn’t like it, so I got it off.”

“Oh. I’m sorry I got it too tight for you. Okay, we’ll fix that.”

Off I went to get a new collar.

When I put it on her I made sure to loosen the new collar a bit more and sent her on her way outside again.

She came back without the collar…

What happened this time?!

She’d deliberately lost it. Again!

The next time I carefully fitted the third new collar on her, I decided to make better use of my cat communication skills and to find out the deeper reasons why TuffyTiger kept coming losing her collar. If it was uncomfortable or something else was going wrong, then we had to fix that!

I asked, “How does that feel now?”

“Too tight!” she whined. “I feel like I’m choking…”

I loosened it some more…, but again she complained, “Still too tight, Mom!”

So I loosened it even more… To my dismay, I could literally get my entire fist through it by the time she was happy.  It literally hung open down to her knees.

She said, “That feels okay now.”

Seriously?

I thought, OMG, she’s going to lose this in a heartbeat! sigh

But I was wrong!

Tuffy never lost her collar again.

It finally felt just right, and she was careful to keep it on knowing that her name tag was on it and how important that was “just in case.”

How to Use Animal Communication to Work in Partnership With Your Animal

So here’s the thing:

When you communicate with animals using the Heart Wisdom Methods, you are working in partnership with your animal.

Animals have thoughts, feelings, intelligence, and viewpoints all their own. They can even help you heal.

Animals are sentient beings who have a purpose with you. It’s your job to learn to speak their language, to understand their viewpoints, to listen to them.

To have happy, healthy animals, everything can’t just be good for you from your human viewpoint.

Take a moment to consider your animal’s input and point of view, and pay attention so you can hear their voice.

The bottom line is, if things are not good for them, then they’re not good, and that won’t work.

Find a way to make it better.
