How do you know if your pet is in pain or not? The BEST way is to simply ask them using Heart Wisdom animal communication techniques. After all, who better knows how they feel than them?

Let’s explore how you can use the Heart Wisdom Methods to communicate with your animals, identify pain, and help them heal—both physically and emotionally.

When our beloved animals are in pain, we feel their distress deeply. But identifying the source of their discomfort—and knowing how to help—can feel overwhelming. How can you tell if they’re in pain? What kind of pain is it, and where is it coming from? And most importantly, is what you’re doing to help actually working?

These questions are at the heart of compassionate and effective animal care. And the answers? They come from the animals themselves.

 

Step 1: Identifying Pain in Your Animal using the Heart Wisdom Methods

The first question you need to ask is, “Are you in pain?”

Odd behavior, physical symptoms, or a sense that something is “off” might be clues—but they don’t tell the full story. Pain can have many causes, and animals often mirror the emotions or physical challenges of their human companions.

Here’s the truth: The best way to know if your animal is in pain is to ask them directly.

Your animal knows their body and their experience better than anyone else. By communicating telepathically, you can ask them:

  • “How are you feeling in your body today?”
  • “Do you have any discomfort or pain?”
  • “If you’re hurting, can you show me where it hurts?”

When you open your heart and ask with genuine curiosity and care, you create space for them to share their truth. Sometimes they may act like they hurt, but it’s coming from something else entirely. And sometimes they may act stoic, or withdrawn or depressed, or restless, because they are in pain or are ill.

 

Step 2: Understanding the Nature of the Pain

If your animal is in pain, the next step is to gather details:

  • Where is the pain located?
  • What does it feel like, is it stabbing, throbbing, burning, or something else?
  • How severe is the pain, on a scale from 1 to 10?
  • When did it start?
  • What helps you feel better?
  • What makes it worse?

It’s important to note that the source of the pain may not be where the symptoms appear. For example, a limp may be caused by an issue in the hip, shoulder, or spine rather than the paw.

Using Heart Wisdom Medical Intuitive Scanning, you can follow the energy of the pain through the body to locate the root cause. This technique has helped me solve thousands of mystery lameness issues over my 30+ years of practice.

 

Step 3: Evaluating the Effectiveness of Interventions

Once you’ve identified the pain, it’s time to determine if your chosen interventions are working, or if they might be causing additional problems.

Ask your animal questions like:

  • “Is this medication helping or not helping you feel better?”
  • “Does it cause other problems?”
  • “Does the supplement, herb, or treatment feel good to you?”
  • “Do you want to continue with this, or try something else?”

Animals are wise and intuitive. By listening to their feedback, you can adjust your approach to provide the most effective care.

 

Advanced Tip: Is It Their Pain or Yours?

Animals are deeply connected to us and often mirror or act out your emotions, pain, or stress. We call this the Human Animal BodyMind Connection.

If an animal’s pain seems mysterious or unexplainable, or you notice that you also have a pain or problem in that same area, ask:

  • “Is this pain yours, or is it connected to someone else?”
  • “Are you carrying this for me or another person?”

When this is the case, the best way to help them is to take responsiblity to heal yourself. By addressing your own pain, you free your animal from carrying it for you.

What is the best predictor of your success as an animal communicator?

I’ve been teaching animal communication classes since 1996 and I’ve noticed something interesting.

The students that succeed in developing their ability to communicate with competence and proficiency beyond their wildest dreams…

…versus the ones that don’t get very far and wind up quitting before they experience their breakthrough.

It all boils down to this.

And it’s one of the most important intuitive traits that all of the best animal communicators have in common.

All the best animal communicators have this intuitive ability.

What is it?

Your ability to shift out of your human perspective so you can experience life from someone else’s perspective.

What does that mean, and do you have this ability too?

  • If you can imagine how it feels to be the dog in the kennel hoping to be adopted at the shelter…
  • If you can feel how it feels to be the horse feeling the pain of being whipped or spurred to go faster by their impatient rider or trainer…
  • If you can sense what the cat sees through their eyes, know what they know, feel their joy in chasing and leaping and zooming about…
  • If you can taste what they taste, smell what they smell, feel how they feel in their body…

Then you are using many of your intuitive abilities to connect and become one with the animal, and that goes way beyond developing just 1 or 2 of the “clairs“.

You’re shifting your human, ego centered perspective and viewpoint to be one with the animal.

You’re becoming ONE with the animal.

To be clear, this person hasn’t trained with ME yet.

I don’t know exactly what she’s doing that isn’t working, or where she’s getting stuck, but I can take a pretty good guess at it after having coached 1000’s of students in the last 30 years.

I also don’t know who trained her, what classes she’s done, how or where she’s been practicing where she’s not receiving the proper feedback, support, and expert guidance to develop intuitive skills and ALL her ‘clairs“.

The good news is, I do know how to help her in all those areas.

Including how to identify what she’s missing and helping stop make the mistakes she’s making so she can get her back “on the saddle”. 😉

Because if you’re going in the wrong direction, more speed doesn’t help.

Lately, I’ve been hearing horror stories of very well known communicator teachers hosting workshops and teaching in a way that left their students feeling just like this, deflated, dismayed, disheartened, frustrated, and all alone.

If you had that experience too, it might help you to know that the teacher had her advanced best students in the class.

The advanced students were the ones that spoke up to share what they got and who received high praise for their efforts, not all the clueless silent beginners who weren’t getting anything at all.

I’ve even heard of teachers telling students they just needed to imagine a conversation and that’s communication.

No meditating, no inner healing, no preparation in any way, just imagine a conversation.

What, like daydreaming imagination?

Uh… NO, it’s NOT all that’s needed! Seriously?!

Just imagining a conversation in your mind is NOT how to communicate proficiently with animals.

True, two way Heart to Heart, Soul Conversations are NOT coming from just using your imagination.

You need to clear yourself properly, clean up your energy field so you’re not transmitting nasty cooties to the animals energetically, get out of your mind (head space) and into your HEART (Soul) space before you attempt to connect.

And if you haven’t been taught how to activate, use and develop ALL your clairs so they are working well then it’ll be harder to receive and interpret the messages animals send.

To be clear, the 4 basic “clairs” refer to the intuitve gifts of clairsentience, clairaudience, clairvoyance and claircognizance.

You need those so you can meet the animal where they are because if they use a clair you aren’t familiar with or aren’t competent in using, then you’ll miss their messages entirely.

You’ll gloss over what they send you, or misinterpret it.

Like a radio station, they’re broadcasting but you’re not receiving.

You’re on the wrong channel or haven’t dialed it in yet.

Ultimately, there’s SO MUCH MORE to learn if you want to be a competent proficient communicator!

So… If that’s what you’ve been taught too?

Please, kick that teacher to the curb and forgive yourself for trying to follow their faulty training methods.

Now you know what doesn’t work.

It’s time to learn what DOES work. 😉

The thing is, if you are connecting properly then you ARE receiving information.

In fact, you’re receiving energetic impressions, messages and information ALL the time from everywhere and everyone around you. The key is to focus in on where the information is coming from, and interpret it properly.

But if you aren’t connecting with the animal from the very start at the heart and Soul level, then nothing else will work well for you in understanding what the animal is trying to tell you. Period.

Might as well stop right there, ’cause you’re stuck all up in your head.

That’s imagination territory, where the ego lives and all your inner parts and the past experiences and expectations and inner voices and wounds and shadows live.

The thing is, your mind can interfere and block your ability to communicate properly, and can often hijack your communication with animals if you let it.

And that’s why the Heart Wisdom Method focuses on getting out of your head, and into your heart and Soul.

Reincarnation – Can You Reconnect With Pets Who Have Passed?

How can animal communication help you understand reincarnation and past lives?

Whether you believe in animal reincarnation or not, or maybe you haven’t decided what to think about this yet, keep reading.

All I ask is for you to keep an open mind and investigate so you can learn, heal, evolve and grow.

After working professionally communicating with animals both incarnate and in spirit for over 30 years, as you might imagine I have quite a lot to say on the subject and all of it comes from personal experience.

For example…

Let me share an amazing all true story about reincarnation and past lives with you.

There was a gorgeous Russian Arabian horse named Taylor who had an extraordinary relationship with world renowned author and Russian history professor, Brian.

(Brian is a friend of mine, and I was leasing Taylor at the time from another friend with MS who needed help caring for her horse.)

From the very first moment Brian was introduced to Taylor, he was fascinated.

He couldn’t stay away from him, and spent every spare minute he could with the horse.

It was so out of character for Brian who was in no sense of the word a horseman.

He’d never before been interested in horses, had never ridden a horse (or wanted to), he was not athletic or the outdoorsy type.

He was an academic, book-ish, clumsy, the sweetest shy type of nerdy guy.

But the next thing we knew he was taking riding lessons.

He invested in a nice saddle for Taylor, with matching beautiful horsey equipment and tack.

He became a different man when he was with Taylor, stronger, more confident.

He looked forward to his time with Taylor like a kid in a candy store and couldn’t stop talking about him to anyone who would listen.

Brian wasn’t interested in any other horses, only Taylor.

And Taylor was especially careful and loving with Brian, taking great care to keep him safe whether on his back or on the ground.

It was clear there was something truly profound going on between them.

So I communicated intuitively like I teach in the Heart School of Animal Communication® with the horse asking Taylor if he knew what was going on or if he could tell us more about that, Taylor said yes, of course.

What he told me was amazing and a bit shocking!

“Brian and I lived a past life together in Russia. We know each other very well, he saved my life and I saved his on numerous occasions. We are soulmates. It is wonderful to see him again after all these years.”

Taylor went on to recount where they had lived, and when and what they did together with very specific details.

He told us about Brian’s family, his family’s status, what Brian did in that lifetime (his job).

Taylor even told us about the politics and conflicts Brian was involved in, with time frames and dates (mid 1800’s timeframe), what they did together, and much more about their life as he knew and remembered it.

Brian, being skeptical as well as a Russian historian, flew to Russia and went to work researching what Taylor told us.

Lo and behold…

He discovered that everything Taylor had told us did in fact exist in the historical documents!

Talk about goosebumps….

Wow!

And that brings us to the questions of the day!

When you know how to communicate with animals using the Heart Wisdom Method of communication, you can ask them yourself. For instance:

Can you reconnect and communicate with pets who have passed on?

Do they know when they will reincarnate?

If so, how can you find them when they come back?

Have you known each other in a past life?

If so, what can they tell you about your past life(s) together?

Is there a difference between communicating with animals in physical bodies (incarnate) versus communicating with in animals in spirit form?

Is there a timeline for how far back you can go to communicate with animals in spirit?

The great news is, you can enjoy heart to heart conversations with animals using the Heart Wisdom Methods with anyone at any time, whether they are incarnate in physical bodies, or are in spirit on the other side in the Afterlife.

You can ask them all these questions… once you know how and are competent with your intuitive abilities.

We have each lived many lifetimes and you’ll know that if you pay attention to the signs.

There is a very good reason our Souls chose to be here in this time and space on this planet living this life.

When you discover what your and your animal’s purpose is together, you come into much better alignment, harmony, and in sync.

So ultimately, in the bigger scheme of things, this lifetime is only a small part of our and our animal’s Soul’s Journey.

Reconnecting with your Soul’s wisdom, the truth of who you really are, is at the heart of the Heart Wisdom Methods, and is why it is so powerful.

When I communicate with animals, like with Taylor, they remember and can tell us about their past lives.

And in those past lives, they were often with their current person in this lifetime.

That’s because we are Soulmates, part of each other’s Soul Circle, and are here doing important work together.

As you might imagine, these make for truly fascinating conversations – and often are incredibly healing as a result.

When we find the truth of it for ourselves, it resonates deeply and things change as we heal.

In fact, heart to heart conversations with animals are how I discovered and learned so much about past lives and the Soul’s journey!

Whether you believe in reincarnation or not, my suggestion is to keep an open mind, communicate and invite them to tell you what they know.

There is always more to discover about who we truly are, what we’re doing here, and why, what’s our purpose together.

When you know more, everything will make better sense and you will heal, evolve and grow into your Best Self.

And ultimately, that’s what it’s all about.

Mastering the Heart Wisdom Method of Animal Communication

What are the steps to learning – and mastering – animal communication using the Heart Wisdom Method?

When you’re learning a new “thing”, you want to know the series of steps you need to take to learn it.

Then, you want to put in the practice time so you get good at the steps.

You might setup a rigid rule for yourself along the lines of “I will practice these steps everyday without fail” thinking you’ll get really good at it if you just keep taking those steps.

And yes you may get good at doing the steps.

But that doesn’t necessarily mean you’ll master doing the new skills “thing”, especially if it’s an intuitive art you’re wanting to excel at.

In the case of mastering (defined as becoming proficient and unconciously competent) the Heart Wisdom Method of animal communication, we’re talking about developing your left brain/right brain skillset: logical analytical steps versus more intuitive creative flows.

Which means you may or may not get the results you wanted to be able to achieve if you’re just learning the “steps”.

And of course, your big “Why” in wanting to master and get really good at something is why you wanted to learn the new “thing” in the first place!

But then when it doesn’t work so well, and you’re getting inconsistent or inaccurate results, it’s annoying to say the least. That messes with your mojo and confidence.

Then you wonder, “How did I go wrong? What have I missed? I’m doing the STEPS!! Why isn’t this working?”

It seems counterproductive and frustrating, doesn’t it?

Even worse, less savvy impatient students can jump to the conclusion that either they themselves are flawed and won’t ever be able to do it, or, that the method or steps are flawed.

So, here’s the thing:

When it comes to teaching the Heart Wisdom Method of communicating with animals, I’m not very good with following absolute rules, rigidity, and sequential steps like that.

I started developing the Heart Wisdom Method of animal communication in 1993.

I’ve learned a lot along the way about how to get extraordinary results from my work.

Figuring out how to teach YOU how to do what I do, to learn what I know, requires condensing my Method into actionable steps for students to learn is a big project requiring mastery of many abilities, advanced education on a wide variety of areas of influence, and includes expertly guided practice.

The problem is, steps are “systematic“, perfect for rocket science or building widgets or baking a cake.

To be clear, I DO teach them, along with techniques and tips, because we all need to start somewhere.

But you need more, which takes you way beyond learning basics.

What I teach are “adaptive intuitive frameworks” to the Heart Wisdom Method instead.

Because mastery in my Method is more about adaptive learning and guided practice so you acquire advanced knowledge and greater experience to add to your essential training intuitive communication and healing toolkit.

These are not “simple” easy steps, per se.

These are advanced skills leading to great expertise in solving problems with animals and  healing.

It’s about alignment, flow, harmony with energy, the elements, and understanding the life force within and all around us.

It’s about being consciously aware and inviting guidance from both your intuition and the animal’s so they can take you where you need to go for the best results.

Mastery is about discovery, learning what you don’t know yet in the moment, knowing how to recover when you make a mistake or miss something so you can quickly get back on track.

Mastery is about never feeling stuck, blocked or limited in your communication abilities.

That’s how you improve your abilities and skills, and how you master the Heart Wisdom Method.

Ultimately, it’s not so much about the steps as it is about your mindset, how you approach and guide a successful conversation with an animal to get the best results.

Communicating with animals isn’t an interrogation, it’s a conversation.

There is ALWAYS subtlety in intuitive feeling arts, like communication and healing.

That’s why just learning a simple set of “steps” is for beginners, but not for people who want to excel in using your intuitive abilties at a mastery level.

The Heart Wisdom Method is a framework, an intuitive strategy, a mindset and an advanced process that prepares you for anything animals (or life) throws at you.

It’s about inner healing to become the best you can be so you don’t misinterpret animal messages through the filter of your own wounds or projections.

It goes so much deeper than just imagining a conversation, which is commonly taught.

Animal communication (and healing) the way I teach it using the Heart Wisdom Methods is about living your best life.

It’s a spiritual journey, not a steps based program.

When you get really good at the steps AND my Method, you enter a state of ‘unconscious competence‘ so doing this work at this advanced level is as normal to you as breathing.

 

Start with your inner healing

You can learn all the techniques, steps and tips for telepathic/psychic communication with animals that you want, but if you don’t do your inner healing, if your thoughts, focus, and feelings aren’t right, if you’ve blocked yourself, are stuck in your head, can’t access your heart energy, or you’ve shut down your intuitive gifts, then none of that will help you.

One student shared: “After investing for years in learning techniques, steps, and tips for telepathic communication, I wish I had started with inner healing work, because all the techniques and tips in the world is not gonna help me if my thoughts and feelings aren’t right.“

Do you have a “self limiter” when it comes to improving your intuitive abilities and animal communication?

As I understand this, it’s a device built into an engine (car, boat, plane, etc) that keeps the engine from going beyond a certain speed.

I’m not a mechanic or engineer and no I don’t play one on tv or change my own oil or build cars in my spare time, so I could be missing the technicalities or exact nuances of the device here.

My point today is to explore the concept, not teach you how to dismantle your car’s limiter so you can drive like a “wild thing” crazy person and get speeding tickets. 😄

So this device basically “limits” how fast the vehicle can go.

It’s not that the engine or vehicle can’t go faster than that.

The idea is to keep the driver from getting in trouble going faster than their skills can handle competently.

How does the self limiter concept apply to developing your intuitive abilities and learning animal communication?

Let’s apply this concept to be more in alignment with our theme and the work we do learning to expand and grow your intuitive abilities to become a better communicator and healer.

You were born to be more, to do more, to go way beyond your self imposed limiter.

As a child, it was important to set some limits to help keep you out of trouble.

Like don’t touch the hot stove, crawl, stand, walk before running...

Things like that.

But as you grow and develop your intuitive abilities, it’s time to reassess and expand (reprogram and adjust) your self limiters.

The question is, how are you limiting yourself when it comes to using your intuitive abilities and skills in order to be a better animal communicator or healer?

And if so, how and why? And even more importantly, how can you uplevel your limiter, or, remove it altogether?

As a child learning to ride a bicycle, it makes sense to add “limiters” to their bike in the form of training wheels and brakes and the design of it.

Because bikes made for the little people typically can’t go terribly fast, not like a Tour de France kind of bycicle.

But when it comes to activating, accessing and growing ALL your intuitive abilities, and then learning how to apply and use those skills to heal, solve behavior problems, ease transitions, and reconnect in the afterlife, if you still have training wheels on your intuitive “tricycle”, then you are limiting yourself.

Until the limiter is adjusted, tweaked, or removed, you will never be as masterful in your intuitive abilities as you could be.

And, if you do feel ready to adjust or even remove your self limiter, then the question becomes…

HOW do you do that?

It’s certainly worth doing.

Just imagine how much more of a difference you could make communicating with animals if your intuitive abilities were at mastery levels?

How much easier everything could be if you were more proficient with your communication and healing abilities?

It boggles the mind and thrills the heart, doesn’t it?

Here’s how to uplevel your limiters.

Consider your self limiters for a moment, and ask to be shown where they live in your body.

Listen carefully, and FEEL where they are. Then explore them further.

Why are they there, and do they still make sense OR is it time to tweak them (or eliminate them)?

Make a conscious decision to adjust them so you can heal, evolve and grow your skills to be a better communicator.

Give it a go and see what changes.

Because there is no ceiling to how good you can become.

All you need is the right stuff, an open curious spirit, and the willingness to learn what you don’t yet know how to do.
