Hi, I have just begun my animal communication journey. I have a rescue with a couple of issues I would love some help with. She is a Chihuahua called Happy. She has lived with us for about 7 months and has made tremendous progress! For the first few months as she adjusted she basically pottied anywhere. now she is very good at peeing on pad. She has pooped on pad only once:( So this is one of the issues, The next issue is aggression towards my spouse, not always, but in a protective manner when one my lap, especially if holding something. He is an animal lover as well.

I am looking for guidance for this as I become more comfortable with connecting on my own. I may indeed be part of the problem {eye roll} so want to keep my own stuff out of the mix. Very grateful for any information anyone can share. . .

      Tami and Happy

Hi Tami, Hmmm. For some reason, I can’t seem to find you to connect as friends on the forum here. I will post my communication with Happy below here for you. That will be easiest. Because I’m a student as well who’s learning here,I think my confidence level came through and I wasn’t to message privately. But I’m over that now! ha ha.

There appears to be a fear of men that Happy has. Here’s the conversation. Does any of this resonate with you Tami? I’m open to your feedback xo.

      —————

I feel Happy looking for guidance, hoping to find her way in this new family of hers. She feels that there is possible danger when a male is present. She feels comfortable and safe with you Tami and is not sure about your husband. It feels like there is something from her past that is triggering her with him. “I don’t trust him” I hear her saying. Why don’t you trust him Happy? “He can be rough sometimes”. Can you tell me more about what you mean? “Men are rough. I want to be handled gently and lovingly. That’s very important to me.” When you say “men”, is this all men or just Tami’s husband? “Oh it’s all men”. They’ve always been rough with me. I don’t like that at all!” Ah, okay. I’m so sorry that you have been handled roughly Happy. You don’t deserve that at all. I would be afraid too. I’d like to share with you something about this, is that okay? “Yes”. Okay! There are some people in this world who aren’t nice to animals. That makes me sad. How about you Happy? “It makes me scared”. Yes, I understand. I feel scared too when there are men that aren’t nice to me. What I have come to realize however is that not all men are this way. There are many men that are kind, gentle and loving. “I haven’t met any yet”. Thank you for letting me know sweet girl.Let me share this with your mom. Is that alight with you? “Yes”.

Tami –> Is there something here that resonates with you with what Happy is saying above?

      ——

Happy, can we talk about where you poop in the house? “Yes”. Okay, thank you. I hear from mom that she has pads down for you to use when you need to pee and poop. She said you’ve been doing really well with peeing on the pad. She also wants you to use those pads for pooping too. Are you able to poop on the pads as well? “No”. Why not? “Because I am trying to tell her something by getting her attention in pooping elsewhere”. Ah, I see. Okay, would you like to tell me what you are trying to tell her by pooping in other places? “Um……..<I feel hesitancy here from Happy>….there is a man and I am scared of him. I want my mom to know this”. Oh, I’m so sorry you feel scared. Maybe talking about this man can help and if it’s alright with you, I can let your mom know. May I have your permission for this. “Yes, please”. Okay, who is the man? “he lives in our house, I am afraid of him. He is not nice to me. I want to be loved by him. But I am frightened by him”. Does he hurt you? “No, but I am afraid that he will”. Can you tell me who this man is Happy? “He is my dad”. And this is why you are pooping in other areas of the house and not on your pads? “Yes, one of the reasons”. Is there another reason? “I want to make a point that I am not happy having to do this, poop on the pad. I want to poop where it feels right to do so. Sometimes the pads don’t feel right”. Would it help if they were placed elsewhere? “they are placed in a few different spots” <I’m seeing something of a place near a couch or piece of furniture that might be in or near a living room as a place that Happy might like to poop – does this resonate with you Tami?

Happy, thank you for talking with me today. I will share this with your mom and send you lot of love. You are loved and are beautiful sweet girl. “Thank you for talking with me, I feel calmer now that I have been able to release this part”. You’re very welcome sweetheart xo.

      Hi Marybeth,

I’m very grateful for your time and energy.

Yes, I believe there is abuse in her past, unknown if it is this or a prior lifetime. She is especially afraid when hubby is holding anything, so feels like she’s been struck:( She also has limited eyesight which contributes to this. It mostly resonates. Dave is an animal lover and will not hurt her, however he also is not currently part of the solution, so that is an unhappy complication. She has been willingly going to him at night for love, so hoping she is beginning to understand he IS one of the good ones.

I’m placing a pad behind couch to see if that makes her happier. Won’t entirely please ME, LOL as it is at the front door and would prefer to not have a pad there. However, if this is what she needs, we will deal with it, fingers crossed this works. . . We have a, maybe 1500 sq ft house, with 5 pads already down, hope I can remove some others if this works:)

      Marybeth, I’m grateful!!!

Hi Tami, thanks for your message back. I’m so happy to hear that Happy is going to Dave for some love. That’s progress. It feels like there’s something within that causes the fear so even though Dave is kind and caring, she’s still remembering what happened in the past. Thank you for giving her a loving home and working with her on this xo. Please thank Dave for me as well.

Fingers crossed for the poop pad placement and also, have you considered asking her to show you where she might like them placed? Of course, you might not be able to do everything she asks but you can also talk with her about that and why. I send my very best to you all and welcome you to let me know how it’s going.

      Hugs!

      Marybeth

I agree, she sometimes indicates she knows he loves her and sometimes not. Baby steps.

Sadly, the pooping is still not under control. She is peeing on that pad by sofa, pooping next to it, sigh. she says there isn’t a better place, double sigh. We will keep plugging away. My concern is our trip next week and new carpet my friends have installed, so frustrated no progress is being made. . .

      Thank you and hugs Marybeth!

Sending much love as you are working with Happy on the pooping. One thing that I have found to be helpful is to keep the image in my head of what it is that I’d like the animal to do. So for example, if I hold the image of Happy pooping on the pee pad and how I am praising her and telling her she’s such a good girl, Happy can receive that image from me. If I hold the image of what I do not want, which is her pooping elsewhere and not on the pad, she can also receive that image and think that it’s okay to poop elsewhere. Does that make sense?

Because it sounds to me like Happy is pooping elsewhere because she has a message to share, which she has above, perhaps working deeper with her in communication could be helpful on the popping issue. And maybe some other students can jump in to see what they receive as well. She did poop close to the pad by the couch, would that be progress?

I wonder if you posted this in the Facebook group, maybe more students might respond?

Sending much love to you both xo.

Still working in baby steps. She simply prefers to poop outside, so now working on her notifying me with bark and dance to achieve the best results for us both. So grateful for your insights, time and energy. I have done the positive visualization. She only peed on pad by sofa, so have removed that again and walking her more often. Progress is happening, bit by bit:) Thank you Marybeth!!!
