ModeratorWe are glad you are interested in practicing talking together with an animal!
To get started, greet the animal and ask if they have time to talk with you. Remember that animals also lead busy lives even though we may not see all that they do. If they aren’t available, check back later.
Introduce yourself and explain why you are reaching out to them: that you are a member of the Animal Talk Coaching & Mastery Club and learning to better communicate with animals and would appreciate their help. You can ask them any questions you want. Typically they do provide a response. Please share your impressions of their personality, energy, how they feel and any insights they may share with you. By sharing what you get, the animal’s person can provide you with feedback and others can jump in too.
Use the Forum SEARCH field (located at the top of the right column below the picture of the Featured Animal Teacher) to find more discussions involving this animal (or other animals with the same name).
Some conversations have been lively, and we’ve learned some amazing insights, and laughed at jokes. Remember that this is a safe place to practice. This is about practice and learning, it is not about getting it perfect. The animals have much to teach us, to share with us and we with them.

Inactive MemberHi Kathy, My name is Denise and I’m new at this so bear with me. I reached out to your cat, Mowgli. He’s quite beautiful. He immediately showed me that he is affectionate and likes to rub up against people’s legs but doesn’t like to be picked up. He appears to be very confident and like to jump up on the countertop and play with the faucet although he isn’t supposed to be up there. He showed me a screened in porch where he likes to hang out but doesn’t go outside. Doesn’t play with toys but likes to play chase with one of the other cats. He likes to hide under the bed and swat whoever comes by. He says he is kind of the leader of the other cats and can be a bit bossy. Hope some of this resonates. Thank you for putting him out for conversation.

Gold MemberHi Denise
Sorry, I just saw this. Thank you for reaching out and talking to Mowgli.
Yes, he is vey affectionate and you are right, he does not like to be picked up. But he does like to sit in my lap and if I don’t feel up to having him in my lap, then he sits on the arm of the recliner beside me.
I have not seen him on top of the counter top nor in the sink, although in the tub sometimes.
No screened in porch, open deck in back and open front porch and he is sometimes on both of those. He does go out for short spells everyday. I think he prefers to go potty outside as often he wants out and then within 5 minutes he wants back in.
Unfortunately he doesn’t have many toys as Sabrina likes to play with them too and takes them asway from him, but if she is not around and I get a toy he will play with it.
He likes to sleep ON my bed, only goes under when he gets scared of something and wants to hide; no other cats. Sometimes he hangs with the cat across the street that comes over, but the other cat bosses him around, Mowgli is very sweet and gentle. I do wish I could talk with him as I get the feeling he has a lot to say.Again thank you for for talking with him.

Inactive MemberThanks for responding. It looks like I didn’t get very much correct but that’s why it’s practice! Mowgli is such a beautiful cat. Thanks again for your response.
