We are glad you are interested in practicing talking together with an animal!

To get started, greet the animal and ask if they have time to talk with you. Remember that animals also lead busy lives even though we may not see all that they do. If they aren’t available, check back later.

Introduce yourself and explain why you are reaching out to them: that you are a member of the Animal Talk Coaching & Mastery Club and learning to better communicate with animals and would appreciate their help. You can ask them any questions you want. Typically they do provide a response. Please share your impressions of their personality, energy, how they feel and any insights they may share with you. By sharing what you get, the animal’s person can provide you with feedback and others can jump in too.

Use the Forum SEARCH field (located at the top of the right column above the picture of the Featured Animal Teacher) to find more discussions involving this animal (or other animals with the same name).

Some conversations have been lively, and we’ve learned some amazing insights, and laughed at jokes. Remember that this is a safe place to practice. This is about practice and learning, it is not about getting it perfect. The animals have much to teach us, to share with us and we with them.

Hello Kathy. Thank you for sharing Sunshine with us as an animal teacher.

My general impression is that Sunshine is a happy, loving dog. Very elegant, likes to prance around, and shows pride in who he is. He loves treats, loves attention, and interacts well with other dogs. I’m sensing he is a show dog?

He wasn’t real talkative, but I got a few things.
I introduced myself, and asked if I could talk with him. S: Oh, OK. Me: How are you? S: I’m great. Me: You’re a gorgeous dog. S: Yes, I know I am! Me: What would you like to share with me? Oh, I’m happy, I love what I do. Me: And what is that? S: I’m a show ring dog, and I like to herd. Me: Really, that sounds interesting. Me: Anything else: S: I like to be with people. They love me, and I love them. Me; That’s wonderful. Are you a male or female? S: I’m a boy! Me: And You’re a handsome one!
At this point it was like I was just getting what he was showing me, rather than words. I got that he was prancing around, and sniffing. I did ask what he was sniffing, and he said ” not real sure, some kind of critter! Me: Anything else? S: No, not really! Me: OK, thank you so much for talking with me.

        Hi Sharon
Im sorry, I never saw your conversation with Sunshine. Sunshine was my first Briard and my first showdog (I had German Shepherds previously) that I showed myself. She has been gone for 18 years . First of all she is a female. We were so very close, I had other dogs while I had her, actually my shepherds raised her and for the longest time she thought she was a GSD, until we went to her first briard National Speciality and she saw 200 other briards and it dawned on her that they looked like her.
We did so many things together. She got her championship quickly, then we worked in obedience and she got her obedience title , I think that is the picture you see. After that we worked in agility and she was just ready to compete when I was talked into breeding her. She had an exceptional litter of which I kept a male and female. I began working with the puppies and showing them, then later I started sheep herding with Sunshine. So we did a lot of traveling together.
She/you are right, everyone loved Sunshine. They said her name suited her. I always had 5 or 6 dogs so yes, she got along with all of them. Briards do play rough.
So you are right, she was a show dog and she did like herding. Her lessons were not like today with 3 to 5 sheep. She was immediately thrown with a herd of 25 sheep. Our instructor told me she was great and could compete but I needed to learn what I was doing! lol.
Thank you for talking with her. I believe this is the first time anyone has ever communicated with her.
        Kathy

Kathy, thank you so much for the feedback. I truly appreciate it. Sounds like Sunshine was an amazing dog. I didn’t realize she is in spirit. That means she was the first animal I’ve communicated with that is in spirit. I’m so glad you had the wonderful time together with her.

3/11/19: Sunshine told me I was a curious being. He (or She?) felt acutely aware of my energy and concerns. He said that “we know who we are” and this felt like he was referring to all his companion dogs and his breed and ancestry as well. He is very relaxed and incredibly high energy. He would climb trees if he could. I see an image of Sunshine in a tree house. I saw an image of Sunshine with his leash connected to a long yellow cord line for running along. I saw him being really really good at Frisbee (frisbees in red, yellow, blue). I saw lots of aggressive looking tackling between him and “playmates”/other dogs, but they all seem to get along most of the time. Sunshine may be a bit aggressive with outsiders? Or is it just by accident. I saw an image of an orange flower and felt a Hawaiian vibe. I felt that Sunshine is great with kids. I felt that Sunshine has had training to help her/him stop the tendancy to run off and play with other dogs and people and kids? I felt that she could scare people, but that she was very love-able and sometimes unsure why people back off from her. I said “just your size honey”. Sunshine says “My love is BIG.” I see Sunshine’s front paws jabbing into the ground, ready to play. Does she Like to eat alone or in own bowl. She says she likes to be a Guardian and that she also loves to play, run, and chase things, well everything. I said that sounds dangerous. Sunshine says “yes that’s what she says; I’ve got big love though.” “My earliest memory is playing with my toes!” “I love being brushed but not for long.” “I love going places, but when in larger vehicle.” Do you like other dogs? “yes yes yes.” I love company, but I like my independence and time with Kathy. At the end, think I was bugging Sunshine so I said thank you and goodbye.

Angela, thanks so much for contacting me and thank you for communicating with Sunshine. She was the love of my life for 10 years and as you can see from my reply to Sharon, we did lots of things together. Everyone loved her, but she WAS my protector. Years ago, long before I ever got into animal communication, I went to a seminor and was told that Sunshine has always been with me .
Briards are Guardian dogs so yes you were right on that and yes she loved kids and yes, throughout all this she was still very independent. I think I got you and Sharon confused for a minute. Yes briards do play rough but they do not hurt each other, although an outside might think they were fighting. No Sunshine has never tried to run off. In fact briards by nature are very border concious and usually do not leave their own borders.
I used to play frisbee with one of my shepherds, but never with the briards. Not after I learned that is the worse thing you can do with them as it is dangerous the way they land they easily damage their backs.
You both did very well and I am sure she enjoyed the attention. I still miss her so very much.
      Kathy
