ModeratorWe are glad you are interested in practicing talking together with an animal!
To get started, greet the animal and ask if they have time to talk with you. Remember that animals also lead busy lives even though we may not see all that they do. If they aren’t available, check back later.
Introduce yourself and explain why you are reaching out to them: that you are a member of the Animal Talk Coaching & Mastery Club and learning to better communicate with animals and would appreciate their help. You can ask them any questions you want. Typically they do provide a response. Please share your impressions of their personality, energy, how they feel and any insights they may share with you. By sharing what you get, the animal’s person can provide you with feedback and others can jump in too.
Use the Forum SEARCH field (located at the top of the right column above the picture of the Featured Animal Teacher) to find more discussions involving this animal (or other animals with the same name).
Some conversations have been lively, and we’ve learned some amazing insights, and laughed at jokes. Remember that this is a safe place to practice. This is about practice and learning, it is not about getting it perfect. The animals have much to teach us, to share with us and we with them.

Platinum MemberHi Kathy, thanks for allowing me to speak with Teddy.
I first saw him physically come bounding up, ears perked up, then running around with a stick in his mouth. Was it one of his favorite things to do? I also saw him amidst a lot of flowers, mainly poppies…maybe that has some significance.
His transition seems to have been hurried, but after that, he was peaceful and calm. He seems to have passed not very long ago. After a physical impression, I felt his energy, as a shimmering, white light.
His role was to keep you grounded, and his message is to stay calm and grounded. He was curious and earnest, and calm himself…very contented and grateful. He does not appear to have reincarnated.
I wasn’t able to get too much from him, mainly due to my lack of practice I think, but hopefully got an impression of him.
Thanks again Kathy and Teddy, and much love to both of you.

Gold MemberThanks Nita, for talking to Teddy, I’m sure he enjoyed it.
Did he enjoy running around with a stick? Probably. All my dogs do. No poppies ever. Him lying
amidst flowers does not feel correct in all the places I have lived.
Not sure what you mean by his transition seems to have been hurried. Can you explain?
I will tell you that I asked him that if there was any way possible, would he please let me know that he made his journey home ok. That afternoon I was outside and heard this loud ruckus from the birds. It was as if all the birds in the neighborhood were in a tree in my yard, not fighting but talking trying to get my attention, which they did. I looked up to see what was going on and that was when I saw it. A big cloud formation in the shape of my Teddy’s head, his face. It looked exactly like him, smiling with his tongue hanging out. I wished I had my camera but was not going to risk losing a moment of that to go in and get it. Eventually it faded away, but it was his way of honoring his promise and telling me he was ok and made the journey alright.HIs energy a shimmering white light? That sounds like him. I miss him so much. He was my last male dog.
His role was to ‘keep you grounded, to stay calm and grounded’. Yes! Not just me, but that’s what he did for everyone. My next door neighbor used to come over and go to him and just be with him with her arms around him until she felt better. He was not a certified therapy dog, but he was one none the less. Calm and peaceful, yes, but also funny and playful. An all round good dog. I want another like him! Tears are falling. He was a big ole teddy bear that was a big lap dog. He did not realize how big he was. If he came across someone he did not trust, he merely took a step in front of me and blocked me with his body. NO growl nor show of teeth. Just quietly standing there letting the person know they had to come thru him to get to me.Ch Enchante’s Veni Vedi Vici, my boy 🙂

Platinum MemberHi Kathy, thanks for the prompt and detailed feedback….loved hearing about your boy. His transition being hurried meant that he didn’t have a long, lingering illness, but left rather suddenly…maybe I’m wrong. How lovely that he gave you a clear sign when you asked for it. Dogs can be so protective and loyal….so he took on more roles than just grounding you! So sorry for your loss Kathy…I can imagine how you feel.
Much love and blessings -

Gold MemberHi Nita
Well…He did sort of have a long lingering illness. He had cancer. My girls that had cancer had lymphoma, he was diagnosed with small cell lymphoma. I don’t know how much a difference that made, but still I only treated him holistically. But with more and better supplements, holistic remedies and energy healing. It took 6 months for the darn dr to diagnose him (she kept saying he’s fine) and then I kept him going for another 18 months. Even tho it wasn’t as costly as chemo, it was still expensive and then I began running out of money, having some health problems and physically wasn’t able to keep up with doing his energy healing, that’s when he began going downhill. His walks got shorter and shorter …and shorter, until it was just going into the front yard and lying there.
I asked Val how would I know when it was time and she told that he said to look into his eyes; so a couple times his eyes told me it was time and I told him that I would call the vet and make an appt for her to come to the house – then his eyes would get bright and he was so happy again I thought I had misread him so cancelled. This happened a couple times, then I had an epiphany and decided he was happy I was going to let him go, then when I didn’t he would get sad again. But I thought perhaps you were referring to the actual day when he left.
The vet came and brought an assistant with her. He loved his vet and she him; but after she came into the house he became afraid. I don’t know if it was because she had a broken ankle and had the big awkward black boot on, or because of the assistant, but he backed away and was very nervous. We gave him cookies, both the vet and I and he gobbled them down very quickly, very unlike himself.
I cannot go on. I have often wished I had just cancelled it that day and had her come back another day after I talked with him more and he was calmer. So I thought perhaps that is what you were referring to and I didn’t really want to go into all this. But a very good friend, Helen (a student of Val and a good communicator) was on the phone with me the entire time and she said that his dog family was there with him and it was beautiful so that was comforting.I have had so many dogs throughout the years and every one of them was so very special. I have so many happy and funny memories of them, but there are times when my heart aches for them and miss them so very much.
Again, thanks for talking to him, I’m sure he enjoyed it. -

Platinum MemberThanks again, Kathy, it’s fascinating hearing about him and how much effort you put in….he must be so grateful. Wonderful how you read his thoughts about leaving..and at least you know his dog family was there to help him across. As Val says, things happen exactly as they are meant to be, even if it leaves our hearts heavy and wishing it was different. Yes, all our dogs are special, and we never stop missing them. Lots of love and hugs to you and all your 4 legged family.
