Platinum MemberI communicated with Erica Taylor’s dog Kaden who said, “ I’m Frisky and like to have fun. I play with the other dogs in my family but not the cats. They are not interested. My job is to keep things lively. I’m still pretty young, actually, younger than the other dogs. I like to play with Kam the most. My life philosophy is to eat, play and have fun, be good, and be nice to others especially your family, your mom and dad. I know little about death and dying and don’t want to know. If I could, I’d rather be a Rottweiler. They are big, handsome, and strong. I have some Rottie markings. Did you notice? My favorite food is cheese and maybe pickles. I am not ‘pulling your leg’ whatever that means. I really like pickles. My favorite place to sleep is in mom and dad’s bed but they won’t let me. So I like the couch. My favorite thing to do is ride in the car with the windows open. I have lots of energy.

Platinum MemberHi Karyn,
Thank you for talking with Kaden! Kaden definitely preferred playing with the dogs and tended to avoid the cats. Though he was much older than the other dogs (he was about 13), he would initiate play with Kamryn (who’s almost 4) the most. They loved to play in the yard and chase each other. As he got older, he was a bit grumpy at times, and preferred to be by himself because his hips bothered him and his dementia made things seem “fuzzy.”He was exceptionally good. Occasionally frisky, but always such a sweet boy who was very nice to family. That’s funny that he wanted to be a Rottie. 🙂
He did eat pickles with me in the kitchen, so that’s funny that he mentioned that being a favorite food. I didn’t know that about him.
He has 2 moms, but he never liked to sleep in the bed. Even when it was just Kaden and I living in an apartment, he only slept in the bed with me a small handful of times. He preferred the couch, and later, his doggy bed on the floor next to my side of the bed. He DID like to sleep on the bed during the day (when no one else was on it), but I think he preferred to sleep alone because no one else would bump him the whole time.
I took Kaden with me for a lot of travels, so he spent a decent amount of time in the car. I think he loved the idea of car rides more than the actual ride, itself! After a bit of time, he seemed to be “over it.” But, any time I said, “let’s go for a ride!”, he would rush out like it was the best thing ever.
Unfortunately, Kaden died about 3 months ago, and I miss him dearly. He may very well have a lot more energy now that he’s free of his body, and I was very touched when I saw this reading pop up in my inbox.
Nice work, Karyn.
