Mel has volunteered to host her Dog, Rolo, as our next Featured Animal Teacher (FAT) during October 2025. You will enjoy getting to know this wonderful animal teacher.

We encourage all of you to connect with Rolo now and throughout the month.

Tune into Rolo first and see what you sense. It’s not just about getting words although that’s a lot of fun when it happens. Remember that telepathic comes from ‘tele’ meaning over a distance like telephone and television, and ‘pathic’ that comes from pathos. So literally telepathic is emotion over a distance.

How does Rolo feel to you? Happy? Sad? Excited? etc. Ask Rolo ice breaker questions as you might with any new teacher. It’s not about “getting the right answer” but about connecting with a wonderful animal.

Gold and Platinum members will have an opportunity to connect with Rolo along with Val on the Q&A call October 11th. Check your time on a world clock for call time of 11:30am Eastern / 10:30am Central Texas. World Clock at https://www.timeanddate.com/worldclock/converter-classic.html) Call reminder emails will be emailed to you. Also, call information found in your course materials.

Reminder: Our calls will be on the Zoom Platform. Look for your reminder email to find the link for the call.

Have fun practicing your communication skills in this supportive setting! Lots of interesting discoveries happen here.

      Dear Melanie,

Here my attempt to connect – please disregard if this does not resonate, I am only practising. Thank you

Rolo, a rather young soul, an interesting dog, has potential for doing intelligent work
Very excited about being alive, loves planet Earth

Needs training and very clear rules, but is alert and curious and
therefore I myself would love to see how far he can go (and how far I myself could go training him)

If he does not get strict training and crystal clear instructions he will be all over the place
Strict training does not mean that he would have to miss out on love
Unless clearly instructed it means that out of confusion he would be lost to know what is expected of him
And if he is not given a job he finds himself one.

His mind is very fast and his attention span very short
He has difficulty concentrating for very long

My impression is that he feels good in his body but he might therefore have slowed down a bit compared to when he was younger

He is not so sure about Beau being around now, so his light might be dimmed a bit momentarily. He cannot see Beau’s perspective, only his. « What is he doing here ? Is he here to stay ? Stop sniffing around my favourite spots » I think Rolo would have preferred to stay only dog but obviously for Beau it is jackpot to be living with M. and Co.
It will need a little time and reassurance for Rolo to get accustomed to the new situation. I hope it will work out well in the end. Especially if Rolo gets a lot of attention in this phase or a bit of a special treatment, like e.g. receiving a treat first (before Beau does).
Beau’s focus is not so much on Rolo but on the family and living environment. Rolo’s focus is on Beau and what Beau is up to, how the family interacts with Beau etc.

However, I think M.’s intuition was right about Beau being a good additional dog for them to take on. Again there is some learning to come with this for all of them.
      M. delves deeper into AC, Beau gets to experience a stable and loving home, Rolo needs to reflect on jealousy and territorial matters. We are living on a densely populated planet, in the end we all have to get on with each other somehow for our own peace of mind and happiness.

Could it be that I am being shown a silvery water bowl that is somehow significant? Do the dogs need to share it or why would Rolo want to claim it for himself only, it feels as if he wanted the solemn right to use it. It feels as if Beau licked water out of that bowl and Rolo does not like that.

      Best wishes, G.

        Hi Gabriela,

Well done, you’ve connected really well with Rolo.

Rolo is a clever dog, and through trying some new training techniques with Beau (Susan Garrett and pattern games), Rolo has really taken some joy from joining in and even showing Beau what to do. It’s such a shame we didn’t really know about these games earlier on. We took Rolo to training school when we got him at 7yrs old and he aced the classes, so didn’t really do much focussed training after that with him, other than to work on his stealing and resource guarding.it makes absolute sense what you said about giving him a job.

In terms of his focus and concentration I would say Rolo is all over the place. He’s quite an anxious dog who needs lots of reassurance.

The dogs do share a water bowl, so I will get another one for them. Beau is much quicker than Rolo at getting to the water when I put it down.

Rolo is slowing down now and gets some pain in his legs, which he feels more at night. He is also deaf and losing his sight. He still loves his walks however and he loves to play, but for less time.

He would prefer to be an only dog, but he is accepting Beau really well and is benefitting from him being around. He’s playing more, joining in with games and still getting lots of cuddles. I reminded him that it was the same for Daisy when he came to live with us and that we still love him very much.

Thanks for talking to him and well done. That was a great connection.

Hi Martha, thanks for connecting with Rolo. He does prance about and he paws a lot when he wants something. He enjoys attention, so will love people talking to him.
He is confident and proud and does sometimes have a play pose.
Rolo is always warm and hyperaware of us, and what we are doing. He feels very soft and slick, especially after a haircut.
Rolo sometimes trips up when he goes out and could well have fallen off the couch at some point if he’s jumped to fast.
He doesn’t like his paws and legs touched, but does love to be fussed in the areas you mentioned. I’m not sure about the items you mentioned at the start, but the teaching and healing makes total sense too.
      Thanks Martha and well done.

      Hi Mel,

Thank you and Rolo so much for this practice opportunity. When I connected with Rolo the first image he gave me was of his hair blowing in the wind. Like he had his head out the window and just loved the feeling of being carefree. He brought my attention to his cute brown eyebrows going up and down. He says he is very expressive with his eyes. His essence is that of playful, carefree, protective but in a type of awareness of his surroundings and cautious way. Very smart, wise, funny, but can be serious too. Charming with a little sass he says. He makes me laugh. He tells me he has very good hearing. He also brings me to his eyes. My first thought was cataracts. He shows me his face cupped in hands and his ears and side of his face getting rubbed. He says he is very cute. He shows me the image of an area with green grass and an area to play/run. With that image he shows me a type of rope toy that isn’t very long. Or something braided. Is there a cat in the house? He shows me a grey cat. Is there a man he is very connected to? He shows me him on the coach with a man he likes very much. He tells me how handsome he is and that he loves his haircuts but don’t mess with my paws! He shows me his teeth and smiles, telling me how pretty they are. He is funny to me. These are random things I also got that I second guessed myself on but I’m going to throw them out there. He showed me a playground with kids playing. It looked like an elementary school playground. When I asked him to tell me more I got the image of him driving by or walking by a playground. I asked him if he liked kids and he said, “Depends.” He also showed me shots. Either him getting shots or someone else. I asked him to show me more and got the word diabetic? I scanned Rolo and got some discomfort in the back left leg. I also picked up on the emotion of insecurity. I appreciate you and Rolo so much for allowing us to communicate and practice. Val has said confidence is one of the biggest hurdles she sees with students. I’m definitely in that category. 🙂 Again, thank you both so much! Rolo is just a gem! You guys have a fabulous day!

Hi Stacey, thank you for connecting with Rolo. He is a charming, but sassy little guy, who does have expressive eyes. You are quite right about the cataracts. Sadly he is pretty deaf these days too. He does love having his ears and the side of his head massaged. It’s quite comical watching the goofy look on his face when we do it.
He is playful and protective, but also quite an anxious little chap. He is on medication to support with this.
We don’t have a cat, but there is a smokey grey one that lives next door, who often comes into our front garden.
There is a field nearby, where we sometimes walk him, but sadly we’ve never been able.to let him off the lead there, as when we got him he ran off after another dog and went well out of sight. His favourite toy at the moment is a ball on the end of a short rope that he likes to tug.

I’m not sure about the shots and diabetes, though I have had him tested for it relatively recently, for which he was clear.

His back legs do bother him now, as he’s getting older. The vets have given him some pain killers to help with this.

We’ve just adopted a pup too, so despite our assurances, there is a little bit of insecurity going on at the moment, as he’s getting used to the new dynamics.

With regard to children, we tend to keep him away from children, as we don’t fully trust him not to bite if he gets scared. If our young nephew comes around he goes into his crate.
I don’t know about a park, or school playground that he’s referring too, however, I’m a teacher, so he could be linking into that.
Rolo loves to cuddle my husband on the couch during the day and my son when we go on our camping trips, so I’d say he has a good bond with both.
Well done. You’ve connected in well with Rolo. Thank you for sharing.

      Hi Melanie,
Here is what I got from Rolo.

When we tuned in I saw him go up to people and greet them/check them out. He likes to get to know you first before leaping into a lap I think.
      He is older.
He is very curious, with a lively mind, looking around him. It’s his. Best if things are done his way. He is more reserved with strangers.
He does like a ball but not all the time ball crazy. I hear him barking.
I get a little bit of stiffness – right side back hip. Also something around the join of his tail to his body. Delicate feet.
I saw gold in his aura, clear and extensive. A certain purity about it.
He is strong and supports others. He’s pretty healthy and has good balance.
He has a lot of reverence for life and healthy self respect. He likes a scratch round the ears and a firm strok down his back towards his tail but not loads of it.
He can be a little nervous outside of unknown things, especially noises.
He likes to curl up next to a body, he likes the warmth.
He guards the house. He does like his own space. He’s showing me his front paws – nails perhaps.
Message for you: Life is meant to be a journey. Ground and be steady. Walk alongside me. Trust me. (I see him guiding you/holding your hand/ walking together – he has the confidence to trust life) It’s ok. Life is meant to unfold and progress.
Message for us: More of this please. He is curious aobut the world and loves the different personalities.

Any feedback most welcome – He is lovely to talk to and I imagine a wonderful being to live wiht.
Thank you Rolo and Mel – have a good week,
      Rosemary x

        Hi Rosemary,
What a great connection you’ve had with Rolo. You’ve summed him up very well with pretty much everything.
His balance is good overall, but he does trip sometimes outside.
The “it’s his” is a perfect description of the way he thinks. He likes to steal things that he thinks are of value to others and guard them. Fortunately, he has mellowed in recent months and will now trade them for a treat. He does guard the house too and likes things to be done his way. Routine is important to him and he is not quiet about letting us know what he wants.
He can be a bit nervous outside with loud noises/ loud cars, but he can’t hear to well now, so this isn’t as much of an issue these days.
He definitely likes to snuggle up close too.
What a lovely and wise message he gave us.

Thanks for connecting with him and well done.

      Hi Melanie,

Here is how my connection went with Rolo!

As I connected with Rolo, I immediately felt that he is perky, playful, inquisitive, and loving. When I asked if he enjoys affection, I received that he absolutely loves kisses and snuggles. I also sensed that he tends to bark at strangers — more as an alert to let you know they’re there — but his bark feels excited rather than aggressive. Overall, he comes across as very friendly and enthusiastic.

I let Rolo take the lead, and he began by sharing some images with me. The first was of a soft blue blanket, which I sensed he loves. Next, he showed me an image of himself playfully chasing cats. He also shared that he likes brown, crunchy biscuit-type treats. Then, he showed me butterflies — which I felt might also hold a symbolic meaning.

Rolo expressed his love for the outdoors, adventures, and exploring new smells. I got that he enjoys digging and loves to chase small things. He also said he loves spending time with his mom and enjoys chewing. When I asked if he has a favorite toy, I received the color red and the sense that it’s something he can chew or gnaw on. He also sent me an image of back scratches and doing zoomies — jumping on and off the couch with excitement.

When I asked about dislikes, I initially got the impression of something long, which then felt connected to hair or fur — possibly something that bothers him when it gets in his mouth.

When I asked Rolo if he feels satisfied with his food and nutrition, I got a clear yes — he said his mom feeds him very well. The image of berries popped into my mind; I’m not sure if he gets berry-flavored treats or something similar. For favorite foods, he showed me warm, cut-up pieces of meat, which felt like something you might cook for him. For treats, in addition to the biscuits, he shared that he sometimes gets bits of food you’ve made, which he considers a special treat.

During the body scan, I didn’t detect any pain, but I did sense a little stiffness in his front legs compared to his back. His left ear felt clearer than his right, and I picked up a bit of stiffness in his shoulders. I was also drawn to the kidney area, suggesting he may be lacking something there.

He also requested more warmth, and I felt he was referring to wanting extra blankets to cozy up in.

For final messages, Rolo shared how much he loves you and doesn’t want you to worry about him. He encouraged you to take more time for yourself — to slow down, be present, and savor the moment more.

      Hi Tatiana,

Thanks for connecting with Rolo. You’ve summed up his personality quite well.
He likes to snuggle up with my son with a blue blanket when he lies on the settee sometimes. My son also has long hair, so that could maybe irritate him if it gets in his mouth.
Rolo loves vegetables and cucumber. We can’t give hime berries now due to pancreatitis, but he does love fruit too. I sometimes cook chicken for him and he enjoys training treats too. He likes to play with a red spiky ball.
Pain wise he does have some stiffness in his back legs, but quite often does lick his front leg.
Thank you for passing on the message from him. With regard to his blanket, I’ll have to dig out his hoodie now it’s getting colder 🙂
      Thanks Tatiana and well done.

Hi Mel, I didn’t read any above readings to get a clear reading.. Had little trouble focusing today so didn’t pick up to much!.. Hope this resonates with you!
I asked Rolo how he was feeling today from 1 to 10.. he said a 7, I had picked up a 3 just before he said 7.. He really seems to be having a really good day today!
Bouncing around and doing the puppy stance with his front legs down and bum up in the air..lol
When I asked Rolo, anything you’d like to say to your mom, roses came up!
I asked what he was doing , he said he was waiting for you to come home and looks out the window for you, he gets really excited when you come home!.. he does the spins!
There’s a tooth or molar on the right side that is bothering him and is discolored around the middle of his mouth, he said out of 1-10.. it’s a 5.
That’s really all I could pick up today with Rolo..
      Thank you Mel and Rolo!!

      Love and Light,
      Debbie N
