Gold MemberHi All
I would like to ask for your help. I usually ask for help thru our facebook, but no one ever responds there so I am going to post here.
Will someone please try to connect with Sabrina and ask her what’s going on? What is she afraid of?
She has suddenly become afraid to go outside. She has always loved being outdoors and will or rather would spend the entire day out if I was home. Now for the past couple weeks she will not go out if I don’t go out with her, even to go potty. And I have to stay out with her. She keeps checking to see if I am still there. Sometimes I don’t have shoes on, or find I need a coat or even have to go to the bathroom myself so come back in; usually she sees me and makes a run for it and comes barreling in with me. If I do make it in myself she disappears and when I go back out I have to look for her and call her and she comes crawling out from underneath the deck. I really don’t like for her to be under there , it is full of leaves and debris and she gets all dirty, plus scrapes her knees on the concrete and her back getting out. So I put an expen around so she cannot go under there, but accidently left the garage door open so now she goes in there and hides. I just found her in there and she was afraid to come out unless I walked in front of her.
It is so sad to see her like this. Since it is just Sabrina, Mowgli the cat, and me, she has liked to be outside to see other people and cars etc go by.
Can someone ask her what happened? Why is she so afraid and what can I do to help her? Thanks so much
Kathy

Platinum MemberHi Kathy,.. I just finished connecting with Sabrina, she was very excited to connect with me!
Sabrina is a very happy, full of energy, excitement! She showed me how she likes to play with a red rubbery looking pull toy and balls, she will catch and drop at your feet to throw again. When she’s excited, her whole butt goes! lol…
I see a lot of dry dirt, like maybe you live in dessert kind of land?.. I at first when I asked her what was scaring her, I felt a weird sensation in my nostrils, left side!.. kind of a tickle, as if fur or something was there..
Then she showed me a yellow and brown object on the dry earth, it looks about a foot long, but not a living object that she seems afraid of!! .. I asked her if she could walk you to it so that you can take it away, and that she is safe!!.. just let your mom know so she can help you!.. It wasn’t there before and seems new, but not the object!.. possibly sharp, may have a smell too it… it’s yellow and brown.
Hope she shows you, and is fine to go outside again!.. She’s a Sweetheart, gentle soul..
Not sure about tags..lol -

Gold MemberThanks Debbie. I have been out in the yard a lot, all over it, but dont know what that could be. We are getting ready to go to class so may have to wait till tomorrow to look better. I did sort of trick her and lock her outside for awhile this afternoon and when I went out she was so happy excited. Bet that was shortly after you talked with her.
You described her to a tee and yes she does have a ball wrapped in red material, it squeaks and has what I call tails. It is for throwing and is her favorite. I call it her throw ball.
Thanks again, I will let you know if I find something. Someone could have thrown over the fence.

Gold MemberHI Debbie
NOw I am really confused. First n o, do not live in the desert. Live in S.E> Virginia water all around, creeks, rivers, bays, ocean. Yard is very grassy except for 2 places. One is behind the garage abt 6 ft to the fence and neighbors yard, also on the other end of the yard the neighbors big pine tree is always dropping those long pine needles that pile up. I try to keep them raked up but so many daily it is impossible so maybe that is what you are seeing? and on the other side of the fence, that is a corner so one side of the corner is one neighbor and other side is another neighbor and their garage abt 2 ft away. the area between my fence and their garage gets filled with pine needles, fallen branches and all sorts of debris which they never clean out..
There is no shed or leanto but I did look thoroughly in both corners, by my garage where there is no grass and over in the other corner by the one neighobrs garage and all the pine needles.
Do you think it could have been a snake? I do worry abt snakes as I am deathly afraid of them and if a briard got bit with all their long hair I would never know it. And by the neighbors garage by my fence with all the debris I do worry abt it.
Going out my back door onto the small deck, to the left is my garage and behind the garage abt 6 ft of no grass then the fence and the neighbors house. coming out my back door and to the right is a long yard, fence and other neighbors garage. Neighbor behind me has garage and then space and then a shed . Maybe you are seeing the one neighbors garage and anothers shed? But all of that is grass there. At any rate I could find nothing at all.Ohohoh!!! Ok. The neighbor’s garage…He lately has a big SUV parked there inside his yard and a couple weeks ago Sabrina started screaming. I jumped up and ran out, it sounded like she had been hurt, then she started barking and showed me. There was a raccoon with its back all arched and curled around, like a cat when it gets scared and is trying to scare something awag. I called Sabrina to me and the raccoon made its way out the neighbors gate. When I saw the raccoon it was between the garage and the suv. And I think maybe thats when she began to be afraid to go outside. But it was an animal dark brown with black stripes. ??
And thats all I know. Its a horse shoe where I live and my house and yard is on the curve and twice as big as anyone else’s with a lot of space on the other side of the garage that I can’t utillize unless I put a new fence up and I have a huge front yard.

Platinum MemberHi Kathy,
Sabrina is terrified. She doesn’t understand why she is being put in these situations. Nothing she does helps you to understand she can’t deal with strangers or other dogs. Sabrina says the friend saying she isn’t afraid is not a friend. She says she has too much to do taking care of you and trying to be safe. That’s her job. She wants to be a house dog, go for walks in the backyard on a leash, with you and be comfortable. it might take time to let her trust you. It might take time for her to KNOW you aren’t exposing her to scary things.
Yes, there might be some entity lingering, and if you can’t get into a call with Val we just have to do what we can right now.
As Val says our pets are here to be our angels and guides. Please listen to her, let her be who she is. This little angel and guide isn’t a social butterfly. -

Platinum MemberMaybe there’s a spot that is dug up showing dirt?..Yellow and brown..snakes that color?..I felt it wasn’t alive, but don’t understand why it would be a fearful piece!..maybe neighbour threw it down with an attitude??..I did see like not normal dirt as it was like lighter than colored, object appears to be just tossed and it bothered his nose..not sure!..is the place you take him have anything like that?..I’m not sure..maybe I shall connect again and see!!..Is neighbour on your right friendly and like dogs?..

Gold MemberI was outside again looking and I think what u are seeing is my neighbors garage on the other side of the fence. As I said he now keeps an suv parked between the fenxe and his house but it abt 6 ft from his garage.
He has been making something, has the horses set up on the other side of the car and has plywood, one day I heard him sawing or sanding. I just now looked thinking maybe it was something on the other side of the fence in his yard and what did I find? A 3 ft long level, yellow with black on it in places. From Sabrina’s eye level grass is hiding part of it and only abt a foot is showing. Maybe he got mad and threw it down. Does he like dogs? He doesnt dislike them but I think they dislike Sabrina. She barks when he comes out. She lijes him, she is happy and wants him to talk to her but he doesnt. He doesnt talj to his own dogs, why would he talk to her ( he us the obe that has hubting dogs that are kept kenneled constantly unless he takes them out hunting. One day he was out there working and Sabrina was not barking. I went out and he excitedly said She’s not barking. I sad, yes I see. Then he said I was talking to her and she hasnt barked. Me thinking: I told you if youvtalked to her she would stop barking cause thats all she wanted. I was hoping that would make him say hivto her when he comes out there but he has ever spoken to her again. And they get annoyed when she barks. However his dogs do a lot of barking but I dont complain so neither does he.
