      The Q&A Call for Gold and Platinum members had a lot of questions about how to protect our pets (and ourselves) from predatory insects, so in addition to answering the questions live in class, let’s start a discussion here about resources.

      Here’s a favorite of mine, partly because this psychic/energetic aspect is completely overlooked by most everyone. Check out my interview with Susan Francis on this topic: https://learnhowtotalktoanimals.com/animal-communication-training-protect-pet-predatory-pests-guest-susan-francis/

      Here’s more info about chemical overload and product resources below:

      I’ve see many dogs and cats with overwhelmed immune systems. They have allergies, skin issues, oozing sores on their feet, liver and kidney challenges, seizures, and more — all due to chemical overload.

      What chemicals?

      annual vaccinations that are often unnecessary

      toxic flea & tick collars, dips, sprays and topicals

      heartworm insecticides

      wormers

      many medications

      shampoos & scented conditioners

      indoor pollution: smoke, mold, “air fresheners”

      household cleaners, especially carpet cleaners

      additives to foods and pesticide residues

      toxins in tap water

      outdoor pollution; carbon monoxide, car fuel residue and asphalt on roads and sidewalks

      grass fertilizers, poisonous weed killers and insecticides

      If your dog or cat is exposed to any one of these over time, (most of our animals are exposed to many of these every day!), they can be in real danger of immune collapse or a downward spiral to organ breakdown and premature death. Remember that there is a cumulative effect of all of the above and that “sudden” decline, cancer, kidney and adrenal failure, seizures are often the result of too many years of exposure and build up.

      Ferrets, rabbits, other small mammals, birds, amphibians, fish and reptiles are susceptible to most of the same chemical challenges. And, if you use topical flea prevention on your dog, including some herbal formulas, these can be toxic to cats and other animals living with your dog.

      The Good News: Safe Alternatives to Pesticides!

      You can choose, safe, effective alternatives to toxic pesticides on and in your animals. Most of these are plant-based repellents that prevent parasites from landing on and biting or feeding off animals (and people) . Not only are they safer for your pets, human family members and home, they are less harmful to the environment as well. Check out these links below for some of my favorites and choose the best for your animals and your budget:

      * Dr. Karen Becker: http://products.mercola.com/healthypets/pest-repellents/

      * Earth Animal: http://www.earthanimal.com/natural-flea-tick/view-all-products.html

      * Wondercide: http://www.wondercide.com/flea-tick-control/

      * “Flee Free” by Green Hope Farm: http://www.greenhopeessences.com/essences/flee-free

      Be sure to check if a topical or spray is safe for cats. Many essential oils like eucalyptus, pines, tea tree oil, and citrus are NOT safe to use on or around cats. Lemongrass and cedar ARE safe for cats.

      Anyone else have other resources to add?

      BIG hugs,
      Val

      For Margaret:
      Get some 20 Mule Team Borax, can mix some baking soda with it if you want to freshen odor and make it go further. First vacuum the floors, then sprinkle this down on the carpet, behind and under furniture, on the furniture under cushions, etc. EVERYWHERE. Take a broom, the outside kind with the long big brush is best but any kind will do, and sort of push the borax into the carpet. Let sit several hours or overnight.Then vacuum again everywhere, empty vacuum cleaner into plastic bag and remove. It totally kills all fleas but won’t hurt your animals. Several years ago a friend was going to start a business with a big flea and insect company but decided the prices they charged wouldn’t fly in the small town where he lived. He took a small sample of their product and had it analyzed. It was 20 mule team borax! ground into a finer dust. He put me on to that secret when I lived in the country. It works! Also the best natural thing to use for animals is apple cider vinegar and water, half and half. That spray (or maybe for cats wet a cloth and rub over them) but that keeps fleas off them. Kathy

        Great tips, Kathy! I forgot about Borax. I once used salt sprinkled in the carpet and it worked too. Salt sucks the moisture out of the flea and egg bodies so they are not viable and die. My roommate and I had taken in a family of kittens and OMG. Our entire apartment was filled with fleas – it was a nightmare. The salt did the trick! Sprinkle it down everywhere, leave it overnight, then vacuum it up. 😀

        I am sprinkling salt and d earth on the carpet. Unfortunately Borax is toxic to cats so that is not an option.

      Hi YA’ll

      I have used two products for bugs and feas. My cats are indoors so I don’t use anything now.

      Garlic
      https://www.springtimeinc.com/product/bug-off-garlic-dogs/Natural-Dog-Supplements

      Diatomaceous EARth – microscopic fossils great for bugs and fleas.
      I buy my DE fossils FOOD GRADE in AMAZON but I saw they have this one here for pets. I mostly use it for my plants to kill bugs/pests organically with out killing the plant or harm to my animals. I used it for many years for detoxing. the fossils are porous and trap toxins in the digestive system but also is shrp so can cause mini abrasions in the intestine according to my Holostic Dr. so I have stoped detoxing with DE. 🙁 I really loved it.

        Re Diatomaceous Earth: This is great stuff! Don’t breathe it or eat it though. 😀

        My cats are also inside only and this is the first time in about 20 years that I have found fleas.

        It is strange. When I had indoor / outdoor cats and fleas before, they bit me. This time they have not bitten me at all. When I noticed the cats scratching I checked with a flea comb and found them on their necks.

        I have not seen them anywhere but on the cats. But after major treatment, which seemed to work, they are back and I’m doing it again but not with the expensive stuff from the vet’s.

        I am sprinkling both salt and Diatomaceous Earth and have resorted to stuff on their neck which did not work. They still have fleas. So far this has not worked. They were scratching last night and yep, checked with the flea comb and found more of them.

        Many of the suggestions have to do with what to use in the yard. I do not have a yard. I live in an apartment. And my cats do not go out.

        the odd thing is that they have not gotten on me despite the fact that the cats share my bed. In the past I would learn about the fleas because they got on me. This time I did not know about them until I combed them off the cats.

      I just found this on Flipboard (news app): Article: Tickproof Your Yard Without Spraying

      The last few years have been some of the worst on record for ticks, and not just in the Northeast. At least one variety of disease-transmitting tick has been found in all of the lower 48 states, …

        Val, I heard that fleas are bad this year too. It did not cold enough here this winter to kill them.

      On today’s call – May 11 — Val discussed the energetic component. Since the fleas are only on the cats, not on me, I guess it is their energy. Not surprising. I’m getting ready to move and I am sure this is upsetting to them although I have tried to reassure them that we are all going and it will be nice.

      I have been dealing with 3 different health challenges, 3 different doctors, my primary and two specialists. All the visits and treatments and meds are enough to keep my energy down. But I have not seen or felt a flea on me.

      Not sure what else to do.

      Hi
      Earlier in my life I have been buying some stuff that you can drop in the neck on your cats that is suppose to help. It needed to be added about once a month for the best protection. I found it pretty helpful and the amount of tics have been fairly few. However I did not feel comfortable with that going in to the bodies of my cats. So I started to call on God´s protection over my cats including tics. In the beginning I did this vert often, envisioning my cats being safe from any attacks from fleas and tics. I visualized God´s wings and protection over them from all kinds of attacks and harm. My cats are outside and in fields you would think would be full of ticks, however over the past two year without any physical protection my cats have stayed free from ticks and fleas except for one tiny tic I found on one of my cats last year. This is something that just came to me. At one point it just felt right to do it this way. Prior to this I have tried all kinds of things trying to find the best and least invasive approach to fleas and ticks. One time I even bought this expensive infrared thing that was supposed to scare away all the tics, however after one day with this thing around one of my cats necks I found a tick right under the infrared device, ha ha! So far, over the past two years praying over and seeing my cats free from ticks has been the most effective and friendly to their bodies. They have not been receiving anything for keeping ticks away and I live in a place in Sweden that is said to have the most amount of ticks in the Country. It is even recommended that people is vaccinated against fleas on a regular basis.
