We are glad you are interested in practicing talking together with an animal!
To get started, greet the animal and ask if they have time to talk with you. Remember that animals also lead busy lives even though we may not see all that they do. If they aren’t available, check back later.
Introduce yourself and explain why you are reaching out to them: that you are a member of the Animal Talk Coaching & Mastery Club and learning to better communicate with animals and would appreciate their help. You can ask them any questions you want. Typically they do provide a response. Please share your impressions of their personality, energy, how they feel and any insights they may share with you. By sharing what you get, the animal’s person can provide you with feedback and others can jump in too.
Use the Forum SEARCH field (located at the top of the right column below the picture of the Featured Animal Teacher) to find more discussions involving this animal (or other animals with the same name).
Some conversations have been lively, and we’ve learned some amazing insights, and laughed at jokes. Remember that this is a safe place to practice. This is about practice and learning, it is not about getting it perfect. The animals have much to teach us, to share with us and we with them.

Hi Evelyne,
Thanks for letting me speak with Hawai. He is a lovely boy!I introduced myself and explained that I needed his help to learn to communicate. He seems to be a deep thinker, tolerant (but not of other dogs!) and curious, as well as a bit stubborn. He has a deep bark.
His fur is a bit rough to the touch, and he has a lovely warm smell. The aura seems to be orange yellow. Does he have an issue with/around the neck?
He likes to play with sticks, and I get an image of him on a sunny grass meadow. His favorite food is lamb chops.
He is a reincarnation of a pet you had earlier, or one that you knew. His message is to calm down.

We have an amusing situation here:
When you wrote that Hawaï was a reincarnation of a former pet I had and while reading your message I immediately thought of my dog Spoty (in spirit), a Labrador/Beauceron mix. Picture attached.
About what you said for Spoty:
Yes, not that much tolerant of other dogs
Yes, curious and stubborn
Yes deep bark
Yes a bit rough fur and lovely warm smell
Yes he had and issue around his neck, mainly on his back
Yes, he did play with a stick (a red, plastic one)
The image of him on a sunny grass meadow = perfectly right (see fotograph)
Spotty was a bundle of love but what a naughty boy at times…What you sensed might have been either Spoty or may be somebody else who highjacked the line? Because as a matter of fact your description does not reallly match Hawaï.
If you agree, I should be so happy if you had another try connecting with Hawaï?

Thank you ever so much for your prompt and detailed feedback….means a lot specially because I have been so discouraged after not getting any response to ATH practice the last few months!
Yes, it is a strange situation! So I must have connected to Spotty…and I just realized that I thought of Hawai as male! Very disappointing, but a major learning for me. You may have been on the last call or heard the replay where I’d asked Val about getting conflicting messages (similar to Rosemary’s question) and she had said to check if connection had been made with the correct dog….so perhaps this was a reminder of that, as I’ve never experienced it before! Spotty’s photo too seems so familiar, though obviously I’ve never seen it!
I would love to connect with Hawai again…thanks so much for your thoughtfulness. Though I took the first course 5 years ago, have had practically no practice or self confidence, so I truly welcome any opportunity. However, I’m a bit nervous now, so perhaps will reconnect after a few days and after working more on myself…hope you don’t mind.

Don’t be discouraged! At least you tuned in with somebody! You succeeded to connect and receive pertinent information. If it is not the right animal that’s not a problem at the present stage, aren’t we still learning? So this skill (to be sure we connected with the right animal) will come later, I am sure.

So very grateful for your kindness and understanding Evelyne, means more than I can say. I’ve always connected only with the animal whose photo I have in front, so it never struck me to confirm! It’s a bit unnerving to know that I connected with the wrong animal, though as you generously said, it’s a connection at least! I’m going to post on the FB forum to see if anyone else has had this experience and the best way to deal with it, and ask Val too. I will certainly work on it and reconnect with Hawai soon! Incidentally, I’m in India, so I wonder where you are based so I can calculate a suitable time to connect with her. Many thanks once again for your time and help. Love to your 2 kids, and to you too.
