ModeratorWe are glad you are interested in practicing talking together with an animal!
To get started, greet the animal and ask if they have time to talk with you. Remember that animals also lead busy lives even though we may not see all that they do. If they aren’t available, check back later.
Introduce yourself and explain why you are reaching out to them: that you are a member of the Animal Talk Coaching & Mastery Club and learning to better communicate with animals and would appreciate their help. You can ask them any questions you want. Typically they do provide a response. Please share your impressions of their personality, energy, how they feel and any insights they may share with you. By sharing what you get, the animal’s person can provide you with feedback and others can jump in too.
Use the Forum SEARCH field (located at the top of the right column below the picture of the Featured Animal Teacher) to find more discussions involving this animal (or other animals with the same name).
Some conversations have been lively, and we’ve learned some amazing insights, and laughed at jokes. Remember that this is a safe place to practice. This is about practice and learning, it is not about getting it perfect. The animals have much to teach us, to share with us and we with them.

Inactive MemberHi, I don’t believe my first post went through and if it did, I apologize.
My impressions were that Sabrina likes to be a girly-girl. She loves having clips in her hair to keep her hair out of her eyes. She said “My Mom doesn’t just put clips in my hands, she styles it to look pretty”. I kept seeing her in different locations – the beach, different boutiques, cafes… She loved being with you on different adventures. I’m not sure if you two are the only ones in the home – You may have a black cat and/or other humans, but she loves her one-2-one time with you.

Gold MemberHi Terrianne
I apologize in being so late in replying to you. This has been a very busy week and my life is so chaotic right now, a good part or mainly due to Sabrina! 🙂I don’t know bt being a girly girl. I think she is more of a tom boy. But she doesn’t really fight me abt puttin barrets in her hair so maybe she really does like it,
I try to take her to different places to help socialize her, but it is difficult as I also have an almost 11 yr old dog that likes to go places and its difficult taking them together as Sabrina gets too excited when she gets to be with Georgia and is hard to handle. Right now Sabrina is a 60 pound puppy that just turned 9 months a few days ago, She goes to puppy obedience once a week and to scent work classes along with Georgia once and twice a week and both are at different locations.
We haven’t made it to the beach yet as not allowed there until later in the season but we do go for walks downtown and walk along the boardwalk and she so badly wants to go down into the water.I tell her once she starts behaving better and walking on the leash better she can go to a lot more places. if you talk to her again please try to stress that point.
You might see her going into the shop where I work. Georgia gets to go to work with me sometimes but Sabrina can only go to visit for short times. Yes she LOVES going on adventures to new and exciting places.
I am the only human in the home and while she totally adores Georgia, the older dog a loves to play with Mowgli the cat, she is an attention hog and a wee bit jealous of the other two. She is wild, adventureous, high energy, very smart, very forgiving and very loving.
Thank you for talking with her and please do so again. All of it may not have been totally accurate but I think you GOT a lot of her.
Kathy

Platinum MemberHi Kathy!
I saw your FB post and decided to check in with Sabrina.
As I connected with Sabrina, I felt such a loving, sweet, gentle, and playful essence from her. She comes across as a very affectionate girl who enjoys being petted, brushed, and cuddling close to you. When I asked how she feels around strangers, I got an overall friendly and open energy from her.
Sabrina shared that she has been feeling a bit lost and confused lately. I sensed a layer of irritation as well, almost like something emotional is sitting just beneath the surface. She showed me that she has a strong instinct to mother or care for someone, and this feeling becomes especially heightened when she is indoors. Inside the home, she feels a sense of responsibility—as though someone needs her, and she must attend to them. When she steps outside, however, she experiences a sense of relief. Being outdoors helps her ground and center herself; she feels more relaxed and as if she’s “off duty.”
When I asked about her connection with Mowgli, she showed me that she shifts into a protective mode around him. She acknowledged that she doesn’t truly believe Mowgli will do anything, but this instinctive urge to protect rises up anyway. She expressed that it isn’t something she consciously chooses—it’s simply an overpowering feeling.
When I asked if there was anything that could help her feel better, she showed me that she simply needs more time and space.
During the body scan, I didn’t sense any physical pain or discomfort. The heaviness feels primarily emotional. She did mention that she’s feeling more sensitive than usual. I also picked up on some subtle sensitivity in her urinary tract—nothing painful, just heightened awareness.
When I asked what she enjoys, she showed me how much she loves her walks and sent me a visual of herself sniffing flowers. She also loves being brushed, pampered, and “dolled up,” and shared that she likes chasing things.
For dislikes, she highlighted mud and dirt, and I got the impression she doesn’t like getting dirty because it means she’ll need a bath afterward.
Regarding her scentwork class, she said she normally enjoys it, but right now her attention is wrapped up in taking care of her “babies,” and she doesn’t quite feel like going anywhere.
Around food, I sensed a slight decrease in appetite—she doesn’t seem to be eating as much as usual. She brought up milk, though it felt symbolic and tied into the mothering energy she’s focused on.
For her messages, Sabrina shared not to worry too much about her. This phase will pass. What she needs most right now is some extra space and time. I also got the impression that bringing her “babies” outside with her may help—allowing her to be outdoors, grounded, and in the fresh air while still tending to what she feels responsible for.

Omgosh! Thank you so much.
I would say you hit it right on the head and makes me feel so much better. She does seem to feel better when outdoors or when we go somewhere, but thete are times lately when I can’t even get her out the door or even off her bed.
Yes, she does like to get brushed unles she has been scratching or chewing to get the cedar needles out of her coat and gets it matted; then too patient abt the dematting.
Yes she does like her walks, she not only sniffs flowers, she sniffs EVERYTHING!
You are not the first person that has said she likes being “dolled up” but if you ask me I would say she tolerates it but would rather be left alone. However with that long hair I have to brush and comb and put some kind of barets in it to keep it out of her face and eyes and I think she does appreciate that.
I had to laugh at the part abt not liking to get dirty or muddy due to getting a bath afterward. She doesn’t seem to care how dirty or muddy she gets but she does not like a bath. 🤷♀️ But she loves to be in water, she plays in her pool all the time and even if all she can find is a bucket of water she puts her feet in it and also is always dipping her head under water.
But she is good at waiting at the door to get her feet wiped or dried off before she walks thru the house.Basically you totally described my girl and put my fears at rest.
Thank you so much. 🤗Kathy
