I asked this question in the Facebook group and Val asked me to repost it here:
I follow along in the course (not as well/consistently as I feel I should to be honest) and I try not to feel negative thoughts that I am not advancing.
I hope it gets better sometime soon…..practice on it daily, right? So that is what I aim for (doesn’t happen every day).
I do online video consults with pets/pet guardians and in 10 minutes I have to get all the information I can and help the guardian help the pet. I really want to quickly connect with the pet to get their point of view and a sense of what they are feeling. Sometimes I manage, but often I do not. I feel frustrated because I know that if I was able to connect quickly with them, I could get so much more helpful advice for the guardian.
Any helpful advice would be appreciated.-

Hi Monique
I made the mistake for 7 years telling myself I will never learn how to talk to animal the right way. This mindset made me concentrate on everything that did not go perfect and overlook the cues that a lot of things were going well.Only when I had an emergency situation with a feral cat and the only way I could think to address it was using animal communication. I was so distraught that I went through the communication at full focus and a cat that had never been within reach came and sat right next to me to allow me to help her. This event changed my mindset and from then on I consciously paid attention to what worked well. I found more and more good things and my communication improved rapidly.

When I’m tuning in and connecting with an animal, I’m wondering about how much effort I need to make with my imagination, and how much I should not do that. I realise this is tricky to quantify – it feels like there is a balance to be struck between being so passive that nothing can reach me and being too active with my sensing and imagination that I make things up or miss little things. I hope this makes sense – I feel like I don’t know the words for these things. Can you shed any light, dear Val – or is this the whole point – learning to sense the balance point? Thank youuuuuuuuuuuuu! Rosemary (And Elsa who does’t get why I don’t get it 🙂 )

Hi Val,
I would be very grateful for your insights on one of my dogs, Blackie, with issues for the first time in his life (he is almost 9). Apologies in advance for a long post. His mother Brownie was my first rescue in 2013, and passed unexpectedly and without any apparent reason on 19th Oct 2021. Blackie wouldn’t go near her body or the grave. After a couple of days, he got violently ill, but recovered quickly and seemed normal after that.
Around end July, almost overnight, he developed some skin and unusual bladder issues (bedwetting etc). At the same time, he suddenly refused to enter the bedroom (where Brownie had passed) and where he had always slept, and still won’t. He started sleeping elsewhere, but restless all night unless I was there. The interesting thing is that all this started when one of the old rescues (Rani, whom I had posted about on the FB forum) had a major problem, later resolved with energy work.Blackie is doing much better, the physical issues have been largely cleared with holistic treatment and he seems more settled. But now he’s suddenly very hostile to the helper, who has been here over a year. This is most unusual as Blackie is the gentlest and most affectionate boy. It makes it impossible for me to travel leaving them together. Otherwise he seems contented enough, has a lot of time outdoors (but avoids going near his mother’s grave) though he is alone without her, (the 7 other rescues are in separate enclosures, some with trauma related behavior).
So my question is: is he going through delayed grieving (does this happen?) surfacing as her anniversary is approaching? Is there something else/a trigger (maybe Rani though they don’t know each other, or the helper/bad vibes?) or is he belatedly mirroring my struggle to come to terms with Brownie’s transition? He’s been with me since birth, so we’re very bonded. I have been working on myself and him.
Thank you very much for helping me understand the reasons and steps to deal with the situation.

Hello again!
Whenever I connect with an animal properly, it takes me an age to recover! I spend the rest of the day a little spacy – is this usual and if so, what can I do about it. I suspect it has to do with this thing called grounding – which I understand to be establish connection to the earth rhythms. If this is what grounding is, could you explain why this is important and why it seems to have such a big effect on us.
Thank you

Hello Val!
I am new to this work, so I’m hoping you can provide a little clarity. When I connect with an animal, I feel that I am sensing information in their energy field, not actually connecting and having a conversation. I get impressions like they are an old soul, or I see a picture of them running and playing or curled up on a lap, or I feel the connection but I don’t get information, or I feel the connection but then I worry the information I’m perceiving isn’t theirs, it’s my mind in the way. I suspect maybe my mind is too willing to “imagine” an answer and now I’m confused and not trusting the information. Will things become more clear the more I practice? Is there a specific exercise to help with holding an actual conversation? Thank you!

Hi Val,
You had asked me to save my question for this month’s Q&A session.
I had asked about my dog Flux. I think her mission was finding me to be a service dog. Then, with my unplanned absence, she spent about 4 months with a well meaning woman from church who basically had her barking and lunging at anything that moved. When I got her back, she was very confused. I think this because she started peeing and pooping on the floor. That stopped completely after a while.Question – what is her job now?
She can’t become a service dog because her bad behaviors are so ingrained in her. I always tell her that she is my best friend whether she has a “special vest” or not. I am completely happy with her being my best friend and companion. I just wondered if there was more to it.
You had an answer to the second question I had, which was based on two messages I received. One was from my Grandmother “Gram” Edith in Spirit – “The universe never makes mistakes” and the second from Flux was “This <my unplanned hospitalization> should never have happened”, to which you wisely replied that “They are not mutually exclusive.”

Val,
I am going out of town from Tues. to Sunday next week and my 19 mo. old Havanese is going to some friends house to stay. I took care of their yorkie when they were on a trip this summer. The dogs had a great time playing but the yorkie, Cami, was very bossy to Lily I want Lily to know that I will be coming back and not to be afraid while she is there. She is afraid of many things and will not go to people she does not know. She won’t let me pick her up unless she wants me to. I hope this will be a good experience for her and that she will have fun and enjoy being with Ned and Sandy.
Thank-you

Hi everyone, I’m hoping for some insights into what’s going on for my boy Gryf. Recently he has been becoming more aggressive. He and his brother (a kelpie) play and wrestle incessantly but Gryf more and more seems to finish that off by being more aggressive and way too serious.
Most recently he had a go at friend of mine who moments earlier had been patting him. First he started just to peel his lips back and snarl whilst she was still patting his head, then he lunged at her forcing her to jump backwards. Her retreat led him to lunge twice more before i could intervene.
This is very scary behaviour in such a large dog and frankly is unacceptable. Normally he is such a happy friendly dog.
I have been wondering if he has pain somewhere or just what is going on.
My attempts to talk to him have revealed nothing. At the moment I remain unable to connect to my heart space so I’m completely unable to communicate with Gryf. He knows I’m not happy with him and I’m pretty sure he knows why, I just need to hear from him.
Thank you for any insights you can provide.Attachments:
