Elizabeth B. has volunteered to host her Horse, Smokey, as our next Featured Animal Teacher (FAT) during September 2024. You will enjoy getting to know this wonderful animal teacher.
We encourage all of you to connect with Smokey now and throughout the month.
Tune into Smokey first and see what you sense. It’s not just about getting words although that’s a lot of fun when it happens. Remember that telepathic comes from ‘tele’ meaning over a distance like telephone and television, and ‘pathic’ that comes from pathos. So literally telepathic is emotion over a distance.
How does Smokey feel to you? Happy? Sad? Excited? etc. Ask Ashton ice breaker questions as you might with any new teacher. It’s not about “getting the right answer” but about connecting with a wonderful animal.
Gold and Platinum members will have an opportunity to connect with Smokey along with Val on the Q&A call September 14th. Check your time on a world clock for call time of 11:30am Eastern / 10:30am Central Texas. World Clock at https://www.timeanddate.com/worldclock/converter-classic.html) Call reminder emails will be emailed to you. Also, call information found in your course materials.
Have fun practicing your communication skills in this supportive setting! Lots of interesting discoveries happen here.

Hi Elizabeth and Smokey!
Today, 9/2/24, at 1:53 pm US Central Time, I reached out to Smokey. I sensed he is a rather young soul. He seemed calm, quiet, and at peace at the moment so I introduced myself and asked if he could talk. I am guessing he was giving me a yes because he immediately showed me that he had an itch on the back lower area of his neck under his mane and really wished someone would come and scratch it for him. He seemed annoyed by it and wanted it to stop itching. I told him I would let mom Elizabeth know and maybe she could brush or scratch there for him. He said “yes, please, that would be great”. 😅He said that he has been trying to deal with all the changes going on in and around his life right now but that overall, he is happy where he is and doing well. I asked him how he was getting along with Nicholas and he said he feels a little distant from Nicholas right now, on a spiritual and emotional level. He said that Nicholas has a lot going on in his life right now, too, but that they are both trying their best to cope and adapt. He said they will be close again when the time is right. I asked if Smokey ever sees Rose and he said that he doesn’t see her, she isn’t there. (Not sure if he just meant in that moment or that he never sees her because she is someplace else.)
I then asked Smokey if he dreams. He said he does dream but often they are bad dreams that make his head hurt. He said that the bad dreams have lessened, though, lately so he was glad of that. He then said he would really like to have something that brings him happiness. He wants something to lift his mood. I am guessing he may have had a bad dream lately and wants to have something happy to focus on to get his mind off of the dream. He said he would like a big hug, a fun toy, and someone to come out and PLAY with him! He needs a happy pick-me-up. I told him I would let his mom know.
I asked if he had any wisdom he wanted to share and I instantly felt his young soul again and he said he is still learning things himself and didn’t know what to share at this moment. He just kept bringing me back to how he wants someone to show him some love and attention at this moment and help him be happy. Bless his precious heart. I felt a tinge of sadness when he kept focusing on that towards the end of our chat. I sent him a lot of love and hugs and hoped that would hold him over for the time being. ❤️
I got a lot of feelings from him so hopefully I interpreted everything properly. If something doesn’t resonate, please let me know so I can make a note to look deeper into those particular feelings next time and better interpret his message. 🙂
Thank you for sharing Smokey with us this month! He has such a sweet soul! Sending lots of hugs and love to you both! 🤗

Hi Shelly! Thank you so much for connecting with my dear Smokey! It’s interesting that you said he was a young soul. I’m not sure how soul age is measured, but he’s a very old horse (in his thirties) and I always think of him as having seen it all. Maybe that means it’s his first time around the universe?
I’ll definitely give him scratches when I go out for evening feeding! We’ve had a serious hot spell here and I have a chronic condition that makes me super sensitive to the heat, so I haven’t been able to be out at the barn much lately. It sounds like he misses me, which both breaks my heart and makes me feel good, if that makes any sense. We do play when we’re together (we do clicker training) but we haven’t ridden in a couple of years due to my health. I wonder if he considers riding play, too, and misses it? Now that it’s cooling off, he might enjoy being ridden again.
What you said about Nicholas makes sense, although I have no way of objectively verifying it. They get along well, but aren’t necessarily friends yet. Rose lives in the house and while the horses see her when we take walks, they don’t interact with her. Maybe that’s what he means?
It seems strange to me that Smokey would want hugs, as he’s usually pretty standoffish, but maybe that’s just an act, ha! I’ll definitely try to give him a hug and see how he reacts. I do think he wants more attention, though!
Thanks again for connecting with Smokey; he is very much loved but I’m sensing that he really likes our little games and would like to do more of them. You did great!

Hi Elizabeth!
Thanks so much for your feedback! I also don’t know how soul age is measured but to me, I have started feeling differences in each animal where some feel like they have lived many lives and their souls are “old and tired” yet very wise and some feel young like they haven’t lived nearly as many lives and are still figuring things out for themselves. As an example, Missy, to me, feels like she has been through many lives, gained a ton of wisdom, and her soul feels much older to me. For Smokey, I get a feeling of having a young soul, not as many lives experienced, and still strengthening his own wisdom. I could be way off the mark but this has been the only way I can explain the feelings I am getting from each animal. I am sure as my AC grows, I’ll be able to figure it out. ☺️I could have been off on the hug part and mistook his need for the itch to be scratched with your arms around his neck as you hugging him instead of scratching him. But I say still give the hug and see what he does. LOL 🤗
Your feedback is very helpful! Putting the feelings I get into words is still hard but I am getting better. I notice that as I grow in my AC abilities, the feelings I get come in so fast and strong and I have to slow down the video to catch what I can and make sense of it all. Thanks again! Hugs and love!! 🩷🤗

When I scrolled down to Smokey’s picture, my reaction was “OH MY!” but I couldn’t explain why. (I’m a beginner) Upon contemplation, my feeling was that Smokey had dealt with some difficult times in his past, perhaps abuse

Hi Karyn! I can’t verify that, because although I know where he came from, I don’t know anything about that situation or what he went through before then. But what you felt corresponds to what I’ve felt, too, that he’s had some tough times. The animals that end up with me typically have had some rough handling–I used to run a rescue years ago.
Welcome and good job! Keep going!
Elizabeth
