We are glad you are interested in practicing talking together with an animal!
To get started, greet the animal and ask if they have time to talk with you. Remember that animals also lead busy lives even though we may not see all that they do. If they aren’t available, check back later.
Introduce yourself and explain why you are reaching out to them: that you are a member of the Animal Talk Coaching Club and learning to better communicate with animals and would appreciate their help. You can ask them any questions you want. Typically they do provide a response. Please share your impressions of their personality, energy, how they feel and any insights they may share with you. By sharing what you get, the animal’s person can provide you with feedback and others can jump in too.
Use the Forum SEARCH field (located at the top of the right column above the picture of the Featured Animal Teacher) to find more discussions involving this animal (or other animals with the same name).
Some conversations have been lively, and we’ve learned some amazing insights, and laughed at jokes. Remember that this is a safe place to practice. This is about practice and learning, it is not about getting it perfect. The animals have much to teach us, to share with us and we with them.

Margaret,
I tried to connect with Roxy for about twenty minutes this morning (Sun 2/17). Truly, were the thoughts and feeligs from him or was my brain just messing around? Below are some factual items; whether they are correct or not may be a clue as to whether there was mutual communication about the later items. This was not the order in which Q&As occurred.
–Are the kitchen cabinets light or dark? Dark –Is the kitchen floor light or dark? Light –Have you moved to a new home yet? No. Is Margaret packing to move? No.[!?] Do you like belly rubs? Yes. Do you chase Missy? Yes. Do you sometimes kick a lot of litter from the box? Yes.
Roxy seems to feel (or I’m projecting on him from my past) restricted, restless, exasperated with how to deal with his circumstances. No climbing to the top of the cabinets. No getting close on the kitchen counter when you’re cooking and aromas are interesting. No walking across the stove. (While my cats have been and are often on the counters, they’ve usually avoided the stove. Don’t know why.) No going outside. No chasing and pinning down Missy. No, no, no, so he’s bored.
Somehow the conversation (if it was that) got around to whether he does astral travel so he can go even higher than the tops of kitchen cabinets. If he did leave his body for a while, I asked him, where would he go? Outside to look into the apartment and wander around, chase cats and birds, scratch his claws on trees, climb trees, find things to eat, run run run.
I asked Google if cats do astral travel. Seems they do–easily–and I watched this video
and read some articles. How does he think you could make life more exciting for him? More food, different food. His own space: he wants to be closer to his guardian, but he also wants a place to be alone. Maybe astral travel with him?
Another member recently suggested (maybe in regard to Mig) that the guardian take her on imaginary walks until her paw heals. I doubt I have sufficient imagination to do that; e.g., I can’t remember enough of Blarney Castle forest and gardens. But aren’t there three-D-type videos people use on exercise bikes? If so, somehow the guardian has to transmit the visuals to the animal’s mind; how difficult is that?
All power to you, Margaret, with the challenges with the cats, the move, the eyes. ~Carol

Hi Carol. I don’t come on the Forum often so just round this. I will copy it and try to reply to as much of it as I can. Thanks for such a detailed report.

–Are the kitchen cabinets light or dark? Dark
Yes the cabinets are dark
–Is the kitchen floor light or dark? Light
No, the kitchen floor is vinyl that looks like dark wood floor.
–Have you moved to a new home yet? No.
Right
Is Margaret packing to move? No.[!?]
Right I am sorting out files and getting rid of what I don’t need but not packing. I do not yet hae a place to move to.
Do you like belly rubs? Yes.
Correct – he does like belly rubs.
Do you chase Missy? Yes.
Correct
Do you sometimes kick a lot of litter from the box? Yes.
Not bad about kicking litter out of the box.

He is frustrated about only getting the prescription food. He wants outside and cannot go. He was on top of the fridge the other day but cannot go higher. He walks across the stove to get from the counter he is allowed on to the rest of the kitchen. There is a passthrough counter, then the stove, then the other counters. I agree he is bored. He does get on counter and chase Missy.

Max size – had to start anew.
Somehow the conversation (if it was that) got around to whether he does astral travel so he can go even higher than the tops of kitchen cabinets. If he did leave his body for a while, I asked him, where would he go? He probably would explore if he could.

If I knew how to astral travel myself, this would be a good idea.

I played ball with Mig on the call and he enjoyed that. I’ve no idea what people do on exercise bikes.
Thanks for communicating with him. I’m sure he enjoyed it.
Right now he is bored including bored with just one kind of dry food and not happy with antibiotics. And I’m sure he is sensing my upset of knowing I have to move but not knowing where or when. Live is a bit up in the air just now.
All power to you, Margaret, with the challenges with the cats, the move, the eyes. ~Carol

morning of 02/17/19: At first Roxy held back a little from engaging and then I entered as a large tigress and he felt a resonance and was then open to connecting. I expressed danger of walking on counter/stove to Roxy (at times felt connecting to Roxy and Missy at same time but made effort to speak with both and got the inkling to speak with Roxy first. What came through for me was that Roxy was bored and would like to be up high as well as outside. He said if Missy was up there that he would be up there as if she is the ring leader and also that he did not want her up there. He says he needs more space though technically he seemed to have plenty of options, but that he was unsettled. He would love to have another spot to be up high and oversee. I asked him if he wanted to play with Missy. He suggests that she is boring and that if she was more playful that things would be different between them. I started to get the feeling that Missy needed better boundaries for herself before things got aggressive. I asked if he felt Princess presence and my message was he was interested in that connection too and felt left out of things. I saw Roxy with your shoe Margaret … a gray black felt slipper? I saw Roxy ripping up a newspaper on top of the Litterbox and he says he was frustrated and felt dirty. I did not make the connection to UTI until you mentioned this later in the day Margaret.
In the evening after Reiki request, I tuned back in for healing time with Roxy and let him know that I now understood his litterbox image. I connected in with Roxy for shamanic energy healing and my mama kitty plopped down right in front of me so I used her as a surrogate for Roxy. I sensed a dry, dense energy, darkness, and a protrusion at back of body near tail and in a little. I called a few of the power animals that I work with for a shamanic healing session. After this, I decided to visit my psychic lab for the medical intuitive work and I will not share all the details but I ended up working with remedies that were rays of light of platinum, white, and rose. We continued Reiki to allow a deeper lever of relaxation at this point. I saw an image of an Egyptian king who was passed out on his throne and he straightens up and tells the cat next to him that he can now relax and not suffer for him anymore. I saw a luxurious Egyptian queen in a lounging pose that mirrored the tigress energy that he responded positively to earlier in our conversations and at this point it felt like a relaxation of Roxy’s nervous system to help his body cope. For a bit he felt lost in space and letting go for allowing healing. Towards the end I tuned into him feeling desperate to feel better and comforted with the images of warm covers and knowing that Margaret may help him via a vet visit. He felt open to this.
FEBRUARY 18 2019: recopy/edit from Forum post: This morning Roxy took me on a journey.key points: I followed a series of tunnels that showed some images that indicated dangerous spots (polyps or stones?) and tunnels led eventually to a dusty cluttered basement. This seems to represent Roxys body/urethra/bladder. Emotionally he was nervous and hurting with sudden lightning type spasms and more constant ache but also very peaceful trusting and happy at core. We did more energy work there and more journeying and conversations. I got that messages that wet or raw meat would nourish him but that he also does love his dry food but almost gives “cottonmouth” in his body. I saw images that suggested toxic overload. Intuitively, I get that although he is well nourished at the core, that his food diet is an issue and that food can be the medicine, along with whatever else you do. I did see image of raw meat wrapped around an image of a brain and somehow this being connected to his overall health. I connected as large tigress again and he came right up to me and this morphed into a visual of him nursing and the message was that he needed nourishment and warmth and also that he felt incredibly soul nourished and loved at home by Margaret in his time of pain and that he is hopeful.

Hi Angela, I just read your wonderful message. Thanks so much for the healing on Roxy.
According to the vet – two of them now since I checked with his regular vet as well – the prescription food is supposed to dissolve the bladder stone. So his food being his medicine makes sense. He does seem to enjoy this dry food. He is not supposed to have anything but the prescription food and I’ll try to stick to that until this stone is dissolved.
They have said the were temple cats in ancient Egypt, so the Egyptian references make sense as past life experiences.
I know he is bored and wants more ways to get up high but there is nothing I can do until after I move. I currently have a card table in the middle of the dining area and he likes to get up there. Not really high but with a good view out the sliding doors in both the living and dining area so he may like that.
I saw blood in the tub again tonight which is a concern. I am not sure if this is from the infection – he has been on an antibiotic since Monday so it would seem it would have brought some relief by now. Or is it irritation from the stone that will be there until the stone dissolves. I am concerned about him and very grateful that you and Carol are checking in with him and offering him some healing.
Many thanks.
Oh yes I can see that Missy is not a good playmate for him. She is much smaller and screams when he tries rough play. He has a lot of “boy” energy – wants to play rough and she does not. I know he is bored but really not sure what to do about it. He will soon have a different place to explore. And he cannot go outside. It really is not safe.

Hi Margaret,
I tried to connect with Roxy again. Maybe the best communication I can hope for at this point of my development is that of a cell phone call that keeps breaking up. That means that at least some data is sent and received by both parties.
When I asked Roxy how he was feeling, he sighed, OK. Then: Not A-OK. But Margaret is A-OK. She loves me; she cares for me; she give me the best life possible–as she has always done. I don’t feel like playing tricks now.
I expressed sadness about his condition and said I looked up information about what causes a UTI: “According to Louise Hay, in her book You can Heal your Life, the emotions that are attached to toxic relationships, anger, anxiety, dwelling on past issues and being pissed off, are connected to the occurrence of UTIs and kidney stones. Hay believes that this is a fear of letting go” (first page of Google search on above topic).
He said he didn’t want to think about it; he just wanted to feel better. Also that he wasn’t taking on your emotions.
I wanted to get up to Roxy’s spirit level, so I’m even shakier about these replies. No to whether the emotional cause is from this life. Yes to the cause is from a previous life in a male body, but no further information.
Roxy seemed to ask if “they” (vet, you) will be able to fix him. I asked whether he wants them to. Yes, he exclaimed: Margaret needs me, and we’re going to move. Twice I sensed a violet color around him and that he’s relatively comfortable laying on his side. Does he purr to feel better and accelerate healing? Sometimes.
I tried to send him energy in several breaths; he seemed to be falling asleep. A healing sleep, I hope.

Hi Carol, and thanks again for checking in with him.
I am sure he does not feel well. He is not well. He is on an antibiotic and prescription food and I don’t know what else to do about it.
Hopefully, the special food will dissolve the bladder stone. But the condition that causes his body to create the stones may be something we have to control with the special diet. If the stone dissolves and is no longer irritating the bladder he should feel a lot better.
He likes to lie in my lap and purr. I offer him Reiki when he does and hope that helps. He does seem to relax into the energy. He is not sleeping in the bed with may as he normally does. Going off by himself is a sign he does not feel well.
I am stressed over the coming move and not having found a place for sure. I am sure my stress does not help him but this is a difficult time for both of us. Thanks for your support.

Margaret,
I wonder if there’s a way to add extra power to Roxy’s food and specifically to the ingredient that dissolves stones. Sort of like “blessing” before eating or putting a dish of food under a pyramid. Or speaking over it the intent that it quickly and completely heal Roxy?
I’m so sorry that Roxy prefers to sleep alone in his illness. When my first cat was sick, she left me to sleep under a table in the living room. Though she always had to have her own space in the bed of blankets and cushions, it hurt when she wasn’t there at all during the night.
All the best. ~Carol

Hi Carol.
Good suggestion to add power to the food. I need to Reiki it.
He has slept with me the last couple of nights. Rather than sleep at my feet as he always did, he snuggles with me and purrs. And insists on giving me neck massages. I love having him there but could do without the massages.
The vet just put him on pain pills. He continues to leave bloody pee in the bathtub which is our agreed on sign he needs some help. Hopefully, the pain pills will help.
Thanks for connecting with him.

2/24/19 last nights checkin: Roxy feels lethargic yet a bit stronger to me and pain decreased overall but with sporadic spasms of more intense pain. I got that he feels safe now, less on edge, and that he will be feeling some degree of respite for a while. I sensed a cool balm of energy around him almost as if numbing his pain a bit. We “did” Reiki Healing. I’ll check in again later too.

Thanks, Angela, for continuing to check in with him. He slept with me part of the night last night – not really the same as he used to but better than hiding out.
I called the vet’s office Saturday morning and she prescribed a pain med for him – but no one called me to tell me about it. I called today since the promised return call never came on Saturday and of course when I learned about the prescription I picked it up and gave him his first of 3 pain pills about 1 PM EST today, Monday. He slept in my lap for as long as I could hold him this afternoon.
I don’t know how long it will take for this stone to dissolve but hopefully he is feeling better. No pee in the bathtub so far today which is a hopeful sign.

So happy to hear no bloody pee so far today, that he got some pain-easing meds to support him to surrender into the healing process, and that he is getting deep rest. I am reading your updates on Facebook, just so you know, so you don’t get worn out repeating stuff on Roxy that you have posted to Facebook.

Thanks again, Angela. So far so good today. He slept with me part of the night and seems better today. Two more days of pain pills and he is almost complete with the antibiotic. Instructions are to use up the bottle of liquid so not sure how many more days. It looks like a few more doses in the bottle.
Glad to know you’re also reading on FB. I will continue to post there for the benefit of others but not duplicate in replies to you.
