We are glad you are interested in practicing talking together with an animal!
To get started, greet the animal and ask if they have time to talk with you. Remember that animals also lead busy lives even though we may not see all that they do. If they aren’t available, check back later.
Introduce yourself and explain why you are reaching out to them: that you are a member of the Animal Talk Coaching Club and learning to better communicate with animals and would appreciate their help. You can ask them any questions you want. Typically they do provide a response. Please share your impressions of their personality, energy, how they feel and any insights they may share with you. By sharing what you get, the animal’s person can provide you with feedback and others can jump in too.
Use the Forum SEARCH field (located at the top of the right column below the picture of the Featured Animal Teacher) to find more discussions involving this animal (or other animals with the same name).
Some conversations have been lively, and we’ve learned some amazing insights, and laughed at jokes. Remember that this is a safe place to practice. This is about practice and learning, it is not about getting it perfect. The animals have much to teach us, to share with us and we with them

I connected with Iris! My first feeling when connecting with her is that Iris is so beautiful I became tearful. I also got the impression that she’s a friendly girl, yet she doesn’t always come off as the smartest in the bunch.
I asked what she likes to do and her response was that she likes sitting/laying in the sun in cooler temperatures, not as much if it’s hotter weather. I asked about the weather where she lives and she mentioned it can be rainy and that her bones start to ache sometimes. She said she does like playing in the water. Baths aren’t her favorite part of water though. She doesn’t like to stand still for the washing, but she does like to be rubbed so at least she gets a rub when she gets cleaned. She said the rubs feel good.
I asked what she likes about her life. “There’s really never a dull moment even though I’m not always involved in what’s happening. We have quite a crew here.” I asked her if there were children there and she said “no small children, but there is “mama’s children”.” I asked if those are human children or other animals in the family and she said she was referring to the other animals as mama’s children. She also showed me something else she likes. She showed me a tractor/riding mower(?) and her running along with it (not a fast run, but moving alongside it). She said it’s Carol driving. I asked her what she liked about doing this and she said she liked to see things fly (like bugs and grass).
I asked if besides her bones aching when it rains does she hurt anywhere else? She told me about an experience of being nauseous. When I asked for more information she said she was outside and ate an already dead carcass (I felt it was a rabbit). She said she got curious and ate it and was sorry she did. I asked about the timing of when that happened and what I felt was maybe within the last six months?
I asked Iris if she wanted to share anything with you, Carol. What she said is “She takes really good care of us. We’re really lucky to have found her. I know we’re a handful (more than a handful) but I know she always wants to do best by us. She’s a very gracious lady even though she can seem stern at times, but why not? Three are so many of us to manage. I’m grateful!” Then I saw an image of Iris giving you a lick which she says you don’t necessarily love.
I saw the colors purple and magenta in her aura (perfect for a dog named Iris).
I thanked Iris for being willing to help me and for sharing everything she shared with me. In response she said, “Thanks for choosing me. I’m here to help!”

Hi. Today I connected with Iris. What first caught my eye (no pun intended) was her captivating eyes. There was so much wisdom, love and compassion in her eyes. Her body posture is relaxed but comfortable. I asked her if she was in pain any where. She said her hips hurt some times when it rains but other than that she is in good shape. When I first saw her photo, many situation photos came to me before I was able to purposefully get into my heart space; kids sporting games, camping, all family activities. She is the center of the family and without question goes with them to all places that will allow it. A commercial a while back came to me about a choc Lab puppy and a small boy. Every day the boy would be going somewhere in the car and would dutifully yell out for his dog to hop in the car “Come on Duck, come on’. This scenario played from young years to adult years. That is what the core who Iris is. Iris said she loves being able to go places with her family, she is well behaved and everyone knows and loves her. She has raised kids, so other mothers at sports games are not worried if their little ones get close to her. When I thanked her for talking with me, I said it was such a pleasure because she exudes such confidence and caring that I felt like she was sharing her light with me. Such a gift.

Hello,
Iris is a sweet girl. I got the impression that she may be a little older or slower than she would like to be, as she mentioned not running as fast as she used to.
She said that her mom is very kind and loving to her and her siblings, and it sounds like Miss Carol adopted Iris as puppy, since she didn’t mention having another family/home before her.
I asked where she likes to sleep and I think she told me she has a doggie bed she uses.
I am still very new, so I think I lost the connection after this point, but I tried to thank her for her time.
